So...if you write fic, do you read it as well?

I'm asking because I read a comment in a community where the poster (a writer) said that she rarely reads other people's fic unless it's recommended. This just boggles the hell out of me. I get the theory (bad!fic abounds!) but...well, I just can't wrap my brain around it.

Maybe I'm just a Philistine who'll read anything that's put in her path. ;-) Well, not everything, I do have standards, but, yeah. I don't need a rec to read. Hmmm. Just wondering if this is more common than not.

You've got it in one. You feel indescribable, and you just want to jump in with a full heart. I love that feeling so much!!! I can never have genuine judgement about a story that makes me feel that way, I'm too giddy. I'm always convinced it's a masterpiece.
The Spike's Angel/Xander story made me feel that way, and some of Rachel Anton's Scully/Krycek stories, and Sarah Ellen Parsons, and oh, Jane St. Clair. Te. Shalott. Anna S. Amber who-is-no-more because she's published did, and gah, who's that one relentlessly excellent popslash writer? Rhys, that's it. Synchronik's bus stuff.
::happy place::

a full heart

Yes, yes, yes. A full heart, yes. Wow...I'm getting all giddy thinking about how it makes me feel! There've been a few stories I've read that affected me that way, like a written kick to the head. You're sitting there looking at the screen going, eeeeeeeeeeeeeee! Love that feeling, yes.
