Update: It's 11:38 pm, and Franklin County is now under a level two snow emergency.

Wow, it's looking like a snow day really might happen. \0/ Then again, this is Ohio. I might wake up to find rainbows, blue skies, and not a flake of snow in sight. ;-)

I think we're under snow advisory until 6:00 a.m. tomorrow. Another six hours of snow...if we're not at level three tomorrow morning (consequently, no driving, which means no work!), I'll be surprised.

So, the big snow is pretty much over. :-( The snow's still around, it's still pretty, but since 10:00 or so this morning, we've stopped getting new stuff. Waaaaah! Truly, I love to watch the snow falling. So unless something completely unexpected happens, I believe that Columbus' own version of Snowpocalypse has ended. ::cries:: Also, though the snow is kind of deep, had this been a weekday, I don't think I'd have gotten a snow day out of it. The outlying counties all had level one and two snow emergencies, but nothing for us.

Le sigh.

Comments to catch up on, posts to consider...TONS of fannish things to do, but I find myself doing none of these things. I need to take advantage of the feline-free state of my laptop to open my text editor and do some text editing, dammit. Onward!

edited to add: It sounds like someone's stuck in the alley. Woohoo! Any sign of on-going snow panic fills me with glee. I am sick and twisted when it comes to snow, I know this, so stop judging me.

Hubs went out earlier and proclaimed that the our new vehicle has front wheel drive and is light for its size, and possibly needs chains on the tires. That's a little less 'woohoo'. Aaaand it sounds like the stuck guy might have been spinning his wheels a little too forcefully and hit something. Now I feel bad. :-( Wow, he's *really* majorly stuck. Sounds like it's about to turn into one of those videos you see on the news, where the car suddenly breaks free of the snow and plows into someone's house or garage. Like, with my luck, MY garage, the one housing my lovely new Honda CR-V. ::is worried::

edited to add: Hooray! Turns out the the stuck guy was really a pickup truck with a snowplow blade on the front, smoothing out the alley. Woohoo again! I am now guilt free, thank you very much.

So, while waiting for The 4400 (Go Kyle/Isabelle!) I thought I'd update.

YOWZA! I got a little too up close and personal with a tornado yesterday. I had a few hours to make up so I went to work yesterday afternoon. I was about halfway through my planned time when an alarm sounded. YIKES! The tornado alarm!

A tornado has been spotted in Franklin County. Seek shelter, stay away from all windows. Do not leave the building.

Aiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!!! Yeeks! I'm in a window office on the top floor! I grabbed my stuff and high-tailed it down to the ground floor of the building.

Man, nothing freaks me out like the threat of a tornado. At least with fire I'm assuming you could make a mad dash for safety. Where the hell are you going to go with a tornado bearing down on your ass!?

Spent the next 45 minutes or so occasionally yukking it up with two other trapped employees. Watched the sky get dark. Watched, quite freaked out, when wind, rain and debris flying at about 400 miles an hour began to pummel the windows and outside doors.

My building has a ton of glass, yo.

The husband and I exchanged a few quick phone calls to make sure we were each okay. Once the storm passed, I went back upstairs and finished out my day with clear blue skies outside my window. Ohio has mad freaky weather sometimes. ::whimper::

Oh yeah, I found out later that the twister had touched down about a mile from my building. ::cries::

My computer hates me. I have wireless mouse and keyboard, and my keyboard gave up the ghost this afternoon. *Highly* frustrating, especially when I uninstalled the driver, hoping it would automatically reinstall after a reboot (the support pages lied!) and found that neither the mouse NOR the keyboard would respond.

Yay for me! I plugged in a regular keyboard and mouse and hoped for the best. Obviously it worked. ::buffs nails:: My rig is completely voodoo now, with a six year old Compaq keyboard, a mouse I bought at Odd Lots, a KDS USA flat panel screen (no idea) and a custom-built tower that the husband bought for me a couple of Christmases ago. And this is me, smiling because it all works. :-D

Holy JESUS, the winds are high tonight! Seriously, I haven't been this freaked out by high winds in a long, long time - and we live in tornado alley, so that's saying something. :-( Man, tornado season gets here a little earlier every year, it seems.

I can hear twigs and things from the neighbors' trees hitting the side of the house - the bedroom wall, naturally. Methinks I'll be camping out in the living room tonight. Gawd, I hate tornado season. :-( :-( :-(

Eeeeeeeeeee, I hate this. All the little thumps and whaps and the trees whipping around and something just rolled across the deck. Waaaah!

See, I'm in the bedroom near three windows, so I can hear this stuff. Monkey!hubs is in the front of the house with a John Wayne movie blasting, so he can't hear it. He's like, "Really? I can't hear it!" when I jumped off the bed and ran in to tell him that our lives might be in mortal danger of being snuffed out by a falling tree. He blinked a couple of times and laughed at something on the screen. Husbands! I think he's confident that the tree overhanging the back of the house has been properly trimmed and pruned and so won't fall and cave in the roof. Go Hubs!
