Well, it seems that it's true, Blender says that "Some Girls" is the 35th most popular tune in America. First post on the subject here, the mystery deepened here.

Scan snagged from the JJB post, here.

[livejournal.com profile] katienyc put me out of the misery of my undying curiousity (thank you!). She commented that she received her copy of Blender in the mail today and the page does indeed have JC's "Some Girls" listed as the 35th most popular song in America.

Woohoo! Yay! It's true!

I still don't see how it's possible.

They compile the list based on air play, video play, and album sales.

"Some Girls" has none of the above.

I just don't get it.

I'm a nasty parade rainer. :(

No, you're being realistic. I don't get it either, but I'm at least glad to know that it wasn't a hoax.

I'm at HITSdailydouble now, poking around, but I'm sure I won't find anything. I'd like to know what's going on!

Did I tell you that I e-mailed Blender? If I don't hear back tomorrow, I'm calling. I want them to 'splain it to me.

(It amuses me to no end that such a small detail has my panties in such a knot. But I don't get it. And I want to get it.)

Oh, they've *definitely* got some 'splainin' to do.

If it helps, yours aren't the only unmentionables in a twist over this. ;-)

I'm twisty too. :::raises hand:::

I'm happy that um...it's doing well? <--- big puzzled question mark

But I'm really confused as to how it can be doing well in airplay if it's not being played yet.

I want to get it too! You keep doggin' 'em. *g* Then you can explain it to the rest of us.

I don't get it either. Believe me, I was prepared to open up Blender and see that the scan that had been floating around was a hoax. Imagine my surprise when it wasn't. heh.

My guess is that they somehow try to predict the singles chart for the entire *month* and since JC's single is coming out in August, they decided to put it on there. Who knows?

Can you tell me who's on the cover so I can know what I'm looking for and not go crazy? Thanks.

no problem! It's the September issue and the lead singer of Radiohead, Thom Yorke, is on the cover. He looks insane and the tagline reads: "Inside the mind of Radiohead's Mad GENIUS". The Blender logo is fluorescent orange. Hope that helps!
