Aiiii! HELP!

Are there any community admins out there who can help me with the LJ console? The FAQ claims that I can use the console to add/delete users, blahblahblah. When I put the commands in, though, I keep getting "Failed!" in big red letters, and I'm getting more and more pissed off.
What the hell am I doing wrong? I'm logged on, and I'm keying the required comments in correctly. I'm about two heartbeats from throwing my computer through the window, I swear.
Someone's *got* to know what's going on. ::whimper::

Also, thank you for all of the lovely words of encouragement concerning Stop the Presses! I'm excited and pleased and happy that it's been so well received so far. As soon as I'm through having a heart attack, I'll thank you all individually. :-)
