Whee! Dodgy computer can bite my butt.
May. 24th, 2008 11:09 amOY! Yes, still alive (again). Wonky computer issues have kept me away; I'm currently hooked up to the computer my husband bought the new computer to replace. Fun times! Somehow or other one of the drivers in the newer computer stopped functioning and then I may have deleted the program and now I have to find the CDs so that I can repair that mistake. ::headdesk:: I'm a doof. ANYWAY!
YAY! Supernatural season finale rocked like a rockin' thing. The writers are so on point with this show that it isn't funny. I think the only thing I would love to have seen that we didn't, was a hug or some small form of touch between the brothers before going they're VERY separate ways. Still, the emotion! Nothing I've ever seen tops this show for manly emotion.
YAY! Friggin' braying ass Russell T. Davies has left Doctor Who! Oddly enough, one of my favorite Martha communities doesn't have a reaction post about this. Is that verboten now??? Color me confused. :-( Still, YAY!
YAY! I signed up for the JuC Swap. I shall now wander away to gather more information about...stuff.

Date: 2008-05-24 04:12 pm (UTC)You mean lifeonmartha? There's actually been some complaints about RTD in a recent post so nope, feel free to speak freely. I suppose it hasn't been posted there because it isn't specifically about Martha- it's not on the Tennant, Donna etc comms either. I myself am not too fussed about him- some of the writing has been a little inconsistent and i suppose it's not fair that Martha was sometimes overshadowed in her season (although she wasn't in my eyes- i think that's because i didn't hang around fandom whilst watching) but they must have done something right since she's my fave companion. Anyway Moffat should be interesting! People have been a little iffy about HIM now actually because he made some comments in an interview about being a womaniser when he was younger and maybe some other stuff i'm not sure. I just skimmed through the interview.

Herro! :-) Yes, I was talking about LoM. I'm surprised because this is fairly huge news, given the state of the fandom. I thought I'd see more about it.
*I* am hugely excited about his departure. For me, personally, I thought the negative stuff about him and his tenure on the show far outweighed anything positive he may have brought to the table, and that includes creating Martha in the first place. I think he got waaaaay too much enjoyment out of poking fandom in general and Martha-lovers specifically. He can't leave soon enough for me. :-)

Date: 2008-05-29 11:27 pm (UTC)I'm saying that he created Martha which is fantastic, but that one cool thing is HUGELY overshadowed by all the negative crap he brought to fandom. I have problems with creating a character just to tear her (and seemingly the group she represents) down. He's said a lot of incredibly stupid things, but that comment about making Martha miserable so she'd want to go home...seriously, what's *that* about, besides general ass-hattery? I'm glad to see the back of him, creator of Martha or not. The man's an ass.
Well there's one positive thing that everyone can agree on anyway- he resulted in some rather loltastic icons! I've not seen the one you've got there before.. my fave is the one with a pic of weary looking RTD and the caption 'Don't you think he looks tired?' :
ROFL! I've seen that one, and nearly rolled out of my chair laughing. ;-) I created mine after one of his completely idiotic comments...I think it was after that comment about creating Martha to be secondary to Rose. Just thinking about it makes my blood boil. Again, he can't leave soon enough for me.

Date: 2008-05-30 10:07 am (UTC)blech he does say some very stupid things for someone who is meant to be good with words. I can't remember where but i remember him also saying that he just says things sometimes without even really meaning them. lol.. we know Mr Davies, we know.

I'm pleased about the news. I was suprised to see controversy about Moffat already (haven't read the interview, have no idea the extent of the comments), but as long as he keeps it off the screen and keeps writing kick-ass scripts, I have no problem closing my eyes and avoiding his RL issues. ;-)

I'm thinking the same thing... So long as he keeps his issues off the show (which RTD clearly didn't), then I don't care what Moffat says...

Date: 2008-05-29 11:16 pm (UTC)Hi! :-)

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! I've watched it twice; again, there's another script/episode that should be nominated (and win!) for *something*, but probably won't be. The show continues to kick all kinds of ass. :-) Have you heard anything about what's supposed to happen next year? Ooh! I'd love to see Sam descend into hell (minus the dying part) to retrieve Dean. They could spend a few episodes getting intel on Lilith. Oooh! They'd meet up with their dad, who'd spent the last few months getting as much info as he could because he knew that Dean was on his way. Then they'd come up with some kind of plan, and then stuff would happen and they'd end up back in the real world (handwaving, smoke and mirrors here) and then they'd tool around for the rest of the season fighting the Big Battle and finding a way to get Dean out of his deal permanently.
Eeee! JuC story swap FTW!! \o/
JuCeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!! \O/ Even though I fear I've forgotten how to write. ::cries::

Date: 2008-05-30 01:28 pm (UTC)If you really want to know what Kripke says is going to happen next season, here's a link to an interview. If you really don't like spoilers, don't click on it. It's pretty detailed, although I think half the time Kripke talks out of his ass. I say that with love. TV Guide
I love your squee. This is such a wanky fandom, it's nice to see pure squee.

Date: 2008-05-25 04:23 am (UTC)I totally understand the computer pissiness;our wireless won't let any of the FOUR computers (my laptop, my nieces' laptops, and sis' desk). None of them. SO...feenie is hooked up to dial up to check email.
Sis is away till TUESDAY...gah! Dial is ok, as long as I'm on AFTER 12am. How did I become so reliant on this thing!?

Date: 2008-05-29 11:19 pm (UTC)I feel your pain. :-( I'm about to get brave and reinstall the operating system on my laptop -- which started acting SERIOUSLY dodgy when I downloaded some crippling spyware. I've never done a reinstall, so wish me luck. I figure if worse comes to worse, I'll just take it to the computer guys, which I'd planned to do eventually anyway. :-(

Yes! I remember when I used to read books, talk to my family, cuddle my cats... ;-)
