I realized the other day that I'd neglected to post my thoughts on the 'Adam' episode of Torchwood. Not that anyone cares or anything, but as a half-assed completist, I felt driven to note my thoughts for posterity. And here's an LJ-cut because, like Dean Winchester and Martha Jones (and *there's* a freakishly gorgeous crossover pairing I'd love to see), I AM MADE OF AWESOME.

1) Bwahaha! The alien's mackin' on Tosh and Owen's all repressed and pathetic. Love is little geek-boy outfit - glasses, white T and skinny grey cardigan. Gawd, they made me love Owen.

2) Jeebus, another one of Rhys' overblown reactions to Jack. Honestly, they need to tone it down, 'cause in real life this guy would be about two rants away from either a heart attack or an aneurysm. Oooh! Maybe that's what'll happen in a future episode? I can only hope. ::crosses fingers for Rhys' inevitable apoplectic demise -- 'cause I'm evil and stuff::

3) Owen's brought sandwiches for Tosh! He's all stiff and repressed and uptight and they made me love him, the bastards!!!

4) Gwen comes in to talk to Rhys and says, "Don't leave me, Jack!" but Jack leaves. Yay! Now Jack's getting glimpses of a little dude who looks like a refugee from either a Pat Benatar video or Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome. Hmmmm.

5) Tosh is being all sexy and stuff. It'd be nice to care about Tosh as a character, but I don't. This makes me sad because...oh, wait. It doesn't.

6) So Gray is Jack's little brother! Okay, a couple of episodes ago didn't Captain Jack Hart (or whatev his name was) say that Gray was/is still alive? Curiouser and curiouser. WAIT...so by this episode Jack knows that Gray is alive (or at least that Hart said he was). Huge continuity error there, yes? Or...more likely, Adam forcing his way into Jack's memories forced that out?

7) It was mean of Adam to tweak Owen into such a love-stricken creature.

8) Ianto knows! Because he's also made of awesome! Poor Ianto, the sweetest, gentlest thing in the Hub, having horrible murderous memories forced into his cranium.

9) Aliens dig Tosh! Wouldn't it be cool if Tosh turned out to be an alien? And that the real reason she's so constantly lovelorn is because she's jonesing for her homeworld and her own kind and just doesn't know it? Russell T. Davies can feel free to use that idea without payment.

10) Tosh is pretty unbalanced, waving a gun around and having a meltdown and threatening people. She'd kill for Adam, yes she would!

11) As always, the big ol' shoehorn is brought out to squeeze in a little bit o' Jack/Gwen 'ship. "I love him, but not in the way I love you." OH MY GOD, SHUT UP.

12) I know it was supposed to be touching, but Jack walking around the table passing out retcon made me laugh.

Owen: "Who'll save me?"
Jack: (complete with deeply soulful shoulder clasping) "I will."

I cackled because it was cheesy -- and I'm evil and stuff. Also, it had a vaguely Last Supper-ish vibe that was just...weird. I liked season one Jack much better. Bring him back, please?

13) As cheesy as the other scenes were, it was completely sweet and adorable when Jack kissed Ianto's forehead. See, for all the show aims/claims to be forward-thinking with the same sex jazz, they fail SPECTACULARLY by undercutting it with all this "Gwen is my one true sekwit lurve" business. Jack as happily bi would be fabulous, but it doesn't scan that way, at least not to me. "Yes, he likes boys, but he clearly likes girls best!" is a cop-out.

14) Oh, how I hate Tosh and her crippling need for love and acceptance. Then again, I may just be evil.

15) One last chat with Adam, which is completely mega-stupid on Jack's part. Also, it's bad writing, to add insult to injury.

All in all, this ep was a pretty big stumbling block in what's been an enjoyable second season overall. Luckily, Martha's episodes followed this one and pretty much redeemed the season. Woohoo! Hopefully, the episodes following Martha's exit (WAAAAAAAAH!) will be as good as the ones she was in...

Speaking of America's Best Dance Judge, if Lil Mama can use this show to pimp her CD, why can't Chasez?

Oh, JC. I guess if he had a label and the slimmest hope in hell that the album would be released anytime soon he probably would. It's very sad. :-(

He may do. JC said we might get to hear new music on the next season of ABDC.

That's still in the year 2008, right? ;-)

I wouldn't bet my life on it.

I heard him say that too and I'm holding tight to it like a drowning sailor. Now all we need is a little more detail, like is he actually going to perform, or are the dancers going to perform to a remix of one of his tracks, *or* (worst and please NO) will DJ Rashida simply spin something of his in the background as Mario flaps his jaws?

Waaaaaah! Well, I saw the wedding episode and surprisingly, liked it quite a bit! Unfortunately, last week's (Fragments, I think?) didn't do much for me. Wow, I saw it two days ago and I couldn't even tell you what it was about! I remember Ianto being at the center of the story, doing hero-ish type stuff, but after that I draw a blank. I'd say that speaks volumes...

The wedding one was quite good...

The one that followed that was Adrift - with Jack and Ianto sexing in the hothouse and the people being taken by the Rift and returned horribly affected by what they'd seen...

Fragments is the one were Tosh, Ianto, Jack and Owen's backstories are explored after a big warehouse goes boom.

You know that this is how they'll finally bring Jack and Gwen together, feed poor Rhys to the weevils or conjure up something totally emo to make us gag.

How sad is it that I dislike Rhys so much that I'd almost root for this to happen? If they *do* bump him off, I hope it's right in the middle of one of his stupid rants. BWAHAHAHAHA! Yep, evil.
