I'm pretty sure I've witnessed at least two "Oh, DEAN" episodes. More manly tears! More manly shmoop! Brotherly devotion and fatherly devotion and stuff! Making deals with demons and MANLY TEARS!!! I'm buying season three as soon as it's available.

Can't say I'm that I'm in love with the Harvelles; if I never saw them again I wouldn't be too broken up about it. The Ash character is interesting in theory, but somehow, I'm just not buying it. All in all, if the boys never go to the Roadhouse again, I won't miss it.

Most of the episodes have been enjoyable, there's only been one that felt like a bit of a throwaway. One ep out of 30+ isn't bad at all!

Also, Jensen Ackles is just insanely, ridiculously beautiful -- much like Jason Momoa. Also, like Jason Momoa, I *love* watching him work. Supernatural! YAY!!!

It's so much fun reading your posts as you watch the show. And don't worry, Kripke feels the same way about the Roadhouse and the Harvelles as you do. Jo was brought in to be a love interest for Dean, but the fans had a collective cow, and there was no chemistry between the actors, so Kripke backed off on that. Ellen, however, is still much loved by most fans. She and Dean had more chemistry than Jo and Dean did, but Kripke has said he'll never go there. Partly because he's really a twelve year old boy at heart and I think he thinks of Ellen as old.

They bring in new people to give the Js a rest, because two guys carrying the whole series all alone gets to be pretty exhausting. That's why some episodes have them apart for some length of time, too, to give them a break from filming once in a while. I don't mind if it keeps them from burning out, but some people get all worked up about it.

Jensen is indeed one of the most beautiful men I've ever seen, and I think he really shines in season two. Acting-wise, Jared has improved, although he was always adorable, and is absolutely fabulous in season three. Jensen has been a joy to watch work all three seasons.

And yes, I could go on and on. I resisted for a long time, for a variety of reasons, but now that I've succumbed, I have many things to say about it.

Actually, I would've liked to see them spend a little more time exploring other roles Jo could've had with the Winchester boys- I mean right from the beginning there seemed to me to be more of a sibling vibe with Jo and Dean than any kind of love interest. (Jensen generally has about as much chemistry with the women they bring on for love interests as an average person has with a wall. Jensen, meanwhile, has FABULOUS chemistry with walls. And doors. And cars. And Jared. ;) )

Ellen, also, could turn up more and I wouldn't mind. I would LOVE to see strong female characters who are NOT THERE TO BE LOVE INTERESTS. *beats network with a stick*

Ahem. Pet peeve. :)

Also: Jensen/Jason Momoa = a pairing that people should put a lot more energy into (be it rps or Dean/Ronon xover) just for the sheer value of PRETTY.

I never minded Jo, maybe because she was a hunter and not a all polished T&A. There was a very good sibling vibe there. I adore Ellen, which could be because she's older and strong and not just a Babe of the Week.

*sigh* I've been watching television for many, many years, and am well aware of the realities of network TV. Doesn't mean I have to like it, and your pet peeve is also on of mine.

Yes. Ellen totally makes you believe she COULD kick your ass, and still manage to get the dude at the end of the bar his drink without spilling a drop.

The episode that exposed the big Harvelle/Winchester secret (the hunt gone wrong)? For a second there I thought S&D were about to find out that Jo was their sister...which would have been amusing until she'd (inevitably) start demanding to go along on hunts, at which point, OY VEY!

I think I didn't mind Jo mostly because by the time I started watching, I knew the whole idea had gone south and there was no reason to dislike her. And has all this talk spoiled you for the fact that they all kind of fade away from the show? I'm sorry. I just thought it was interesting that you singled out the whole Roadhouse thing as something you really didn't like.

Yes. Please see my post where I squeed over Missouri Mosely and may have said that I wanted to be her. ::cough::

Ellen should have been an ex-hunter who left the game after seeing a particularly nasty kill or something. And yes, every woman on the planet as a potential love interest? Also a pet peeve in foxmonkey-world. ::peeves::

Also: Jensen/Jason Momoa = a pairing that people should put a lot more energy into (be it rps or Dean/Ronon xover) just for the sheer value of PRETTY.

My ovaries would never, ever survive. That said, I wouldn't mind putting it to the test. ;-) Also, if you ever run into such a crossover, please send me a telegram.

I know I have run across Dean-goes-to-Atlantis fic... and there was a Stargate manip floating around a while back. (Just Jensen in uniform in front of the gate in the gate room on Earth.)

I cannot recall any Dean/Ronon specific ones, though. Clearly, I must look!

GOOGLE IS MY BOYFRIEND AND YOU SERIOUSLY WIN AT BOTH LIFE AND THE INTERNET. Given comments above, this one quite naturally caught my eye:

laniew1: FIC: SPN/SG1/SGA - Journey's End 3 - Dean/Daniel, Dean/Ronon, Dean/Daniel/Ronon - PG13

Holy cow, it's like she read my mind. I, uh. Might be staying up to read this one.

I just read the first one of that series, and it's quite well done. (First story is only pre-slash.)

Also, since I tend to watch SGA over SG1 these days, I had forgotten until I looked at the Jensen manip how CLUNKY the SGC gate looks by comparison.

Ellen, however, is still much loved by most fans.

Ellen I didn't mind, but honestly, after having watched Sam and Dean find their brotherly groove and then move the family puzzle pieces around to find a new fit after Dad showed up...I guess I'm just not interested (at the moment, anyway) with sharing the Winchesters with anyone. I like that the boys lean on each other for support and I liked that they'd been cautious of being around other hunters and not letting on too much of what was going on in their own lives. (I also realize that I'm getting two seasons of growth condensed over a couple of weeks, but...yeah.)

The Roadhouse Gang just feels kind of oddly tacked on -- for instance, I didn't get the sense that Ash was really giving them anything more spectacular than they'd done on their own so far (keeping in mind that I still have half of season two to go). I love a slightly loopy genius, but Ash was a cartoon. Also, a character with something to prove (Jo) just makes me INSANE. I discovered a while back that I really don't take to characters who suddenly show up and start pushing to be let in -- I don't know what that might say about me or my life or if it reflects on the way I chose my friends, but watching it play out on a TV screen just sets my nerves on edge.

there was no chemistry between the actors, so Kripke backed off on that.

Thank GOD. That's got to be one of the most painful fan experiences ever, watching two actors with NO believable chemistry try to pull off those kinds of scenes.

They bring in new people to give the Js a rest

Which I don't mind, but I don't want the new people to be annoying. ;-)

That's why some episodes have them apart for some length of time, too, to give them a break from filming once in a while.

Which understand and don't mind, but again, non-annoying characters are a huge plus. ;-) I have no problem with episodes where they each go off separately for a while.

Jensen is indeed one of the most beautiful men I've ever seen, and I think he really shines in season two. Acting-wise, Jared has improved, although he was always adorable, and is absolutely fabulous in season three. Jensen has been a joy to watch work all three seasons.

I agree with everything here! Some of Jared's reaction shots are just hilarious. AND! The scene in the hospital where Sam's standing in the doorway watching the doctors work on Dean? That was incredible. I backed up and watched that scene two or three times because he just *nailed* it. Jensen's just plain amazing to watch. Such an expressive face!

Once I burn through the episodes (hahahahahaha, making it last, my ass), I'll rewatch and take notes for each episode. I'm seriously loving this show, and I'm already dreading watching the last of my DVDs! On the plus side, since I came in so late in the game, I have most of season three to look forward to when it's finally released! YAYAYAYAYAY!!!

The commentary Kripke does during episode 2.21 - All Hell Breaks Loose I includes him talking about the Roadhouse and that's exactly what he said, how tacked on it was, how dumb an idea it was to have this place where all these hunters showed up to have a beer. I think part of the point was to show how isolated Sam and Dean are/were from this whole world of other hunters that John hadn't told them anything about. Partly because John tended to fall out with people, and partly because he was so focussed on what killed Mary that he didn't have time for anyone else. But for the whole first season, you get the feeling that the Winchesters are the only hunters in the world, and the Roadhouse shows us that that's not true at all.

Woman! I just watched this ep with the commentary a few minutes ago, and I nearly laughed when Kripke started talking -- quite gleefully -- about how much he hated the Roadhouse and how happy he was to "torch the mother." ROFL! He said everything I'd been thinking, that it really, really didn't work in the world they'd built up to that point.

I'm amazed we didn't get a flaily post from you at the end of the S1 season finale! But, then, you were a smart cookie and bought both seasons at once, so I'm sure you just tore the wrapper off the second box in record time to see what would happen. I wasn't in the fandom yet, but I am constantly amazed that those who were had to wait FOUR MONTHS to find out what happened!

I actually have another friend on LJ--and her fiance--who started watching the first season recently through Netflix. Then, about halfway through S1, they went out and bought the S1 box set. Then they hit the finale, and went to Wal-Mart in the middle of the night to buy S2. *loves Show*

I am just so tickled to read all your impressions! Keep 'em coming! And I know Kim or someone else will hook you up with the S3 eps that you've missed. Oh, and we definitely have to get you the Paley festival, too, to show you the RPS side of things. ;)

And, yes, Jensen is ridiculously pretty--and then, with Dean, he's so much more than just pretty. ♥

BWAHAHAHA! Which is pretty much exactly what I did. I sat on the bed for about five minutes after the S1 finale. Then I picked up the S2 box and before I knew it, the first DVD was in the machine. ;-)

went to Wal-Mart in the middle of the night to buy S2. *loves Show*

That sounds exactly like something I would have done! I'm glad I bought both seasons together, which says a LOT about how much I like this show, especially when you figure I'd only seen three episodes before I gave them my hard-earned cash! I am SO not disappointed. :-)

YAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAY!!! Yes! :-D

Jason Momoa is the only other actor I can think of where half the time I'm thinking, wow, he's absolutely beautiful. It helps that I truly enjoy their acting skills so I don't feel too bad about being swept away by their gorgeousness ;-)

I FREAKIN' LOVE THIS SHOW! If I space them out, I have enough S2 episodes to get me through the weekend. ::cries:: Do you have any idea when we can expect S3 DVDs?

Not for a while yet, given they still have a few eps of S3 to film. They're running on a different schedule than previously because of the strike.

I think the season dvds have tended to turn up the fall after the season aired, so maybe Aug-Sept? Although with the whole strike thing they may decide it's better to get them out ASAP with lots of extras so they have more time to lure fans in for season 4, and entice people back they might've lost during strike-hiatus?

And yes, watching the end of s1 knowing you had to wait for season 2? Was, um. INTERESTING. There was a lot of failing on the interwebz. *G*

Beginning April 24, we get four new episodes that will finish out S3. Also, they're going to show repeats starting April 3, but I think, since they already showed all of S3 during the strike, that they'll be repeating the 4 episodes that aired in February, which you've already seen, right?

The DVDs for the first two seasons came out in the first or second week of the September following the season. I don't know if they'll stick to that schedule with the altered S3, but I hope they do, so that we have time for lots of extras, since the total episode count for the season will wind up being 16 instead of 22. *weeps for those 6 lost episodes*

I am so delighted that you're loving the show! I do hope you go back to watch again and log your more in-depth reactions. I really wish I could experience the whole thing again over from the beginning. *sigh*

Oh, man, I'm just thinking about the episodes that you have ahead of you! Nightshifter! (unless you watched the rebroadcast of that during the "all night event" with Jus in Bello) Born Under a Bad Sign! Tall Tales! Folsom Prison Blues! Hee! You're in for a wild ride. *g*

And I have to agree with you about Jensen! The looks and faces he can make, even when he's not trying.....:) And I just love Dean's wit! Yet, seeing him broken up - omg, my heart!

Stay tuned to April 24! NEW EPISODE of S3! And yes, I do watch S3, even without S2 being finished!
