Tinkerbell!Doctor and other hilarity.
Feb. 27th, 2008 06:44 pmApparently I'm completely on crack. I thought Martha's Torchwood premiere (in the US!) was last week. HAHAHAHA, color me befuddled. This week, so YAY!
I hadn't watched Last of the Timelords, the last episode of season three and her exit as full-time companion, and yeah, that still burns me. Not wanting to let her go just yet, I DVRd the episode and saved it to watch just before her first Torchwood episode, so yeah, go me! The episode was easier to watch since I've known what to expect for MONTHS now.
Dobby!Doctor was completely hilarious, Glowy!Tinkerbell!Jesus!Doctor even more hilarious, and honestly, why in the hell is RussT trying to set the Doctor up as some Messiah figure? Don't we have enough of those on this planet already? If I wanted religion I'd watch Davey and Goliath, so quit trying to push your One True (outerspace!) God on me, Mr. Davies. Better men than you have tried to get me to change my heathen ways. Just entertain me, dammit.
So, yes. Emo!Doctor and "I forgive you," and all that other stuff just kind of slid over my skin. Even the line about other companions looking into the Time Vortex didn't faze me, I think because he used 'companions' plural instead of singular. And anyway, Martha absolutely pwned his silly Gallifreyan ass and HOW MUCH DID I LOVE HER LAUGHTER WHILE ON HER KNEES.
John Simm was way too cute as the Master. Wouldn't he make a cool Eleven? Come on, you know he would. And Martha could come back as his companion because, as Eleven, the Doctor will finally own up to having been a Big Bucket of Fail in his tenth incarnation and he will love and cherish Martha for the completely awesome being that she is. It could happen. Don't say it couldn't.
Also, why the hell aren't more people writing Master/Martha fic? Seriously, fandom, you're letting me down here.

Date: 2008-02-28 12:56 am (UTC)John Simm is just freakin' adorable. I loved him in Life on Mars, too.
Yeah, TinkerbellJeebus...honestly, what kind of crack is Rusty smoking? And the closeup on his Chucks when he touched back down, I swear I almost fell off the bed I was laughing so hard.
Martha laughing and the look on the Master's face, OH MY GOD, I love that woman. I'll probably watch it again before her first Torchwood ep airs on Saturday. ::dances::

Date: 2008-02-28 03:09 am (UTC)If I'd watched it back when it first aired, right after my anger with earlier episodes, I know I'd have hated it.
It took me months before I decided I'd watch the end - and only the end - from the point where Martha enters and he thinks they're about to go off on another journey. And now, months after that! I've finally watched the first part of the episode, but stopped just after he describes Meta Sigmafolio. Watching this way softened the blow, and after all the anger swirling around New Who, it's probably the only way I could have watched the episode and come to peace with it. I definitely prefer this episode over some of the way emo OMG,Rose! ones!

Date: 2008-02-28 08:27 am (UTC)Martha is the heat in the kitchen. <3
And John Simm would be a cool Eleven, but I'd rather have had him stick around IN THE TARDIS AS THE DOCTOR'S LOVE PRISONER, OMG. It almost HAPPENED. Did you HEAR what he SAID? And Martha and Jack could shake their heads sadly at the Doctor's delusional paternalism.
It would be AWESOME.
And then, yes, the Master would have broken loose and wreaked havoc (and possibly sexed Martha and/or Jack) and escaped. And Martha would have to stay to beat the Doctor until he admitted he was an idiot, and then they could be happy until the next crisis.
AND NEVER MENTION ROSE AGAIN.
the end.

Date: 2008-02-29 09:16 am (UTC)I love the different phrases that people have for Tinkerbell!Glowy!Jesus!Doctor because that moment really shouldn't be taken too seriously. Even Freema mentions laughing about that in commentary or something somewhere.
Which reminds me- you lucky thing, you must have so much Behind the Scenes stuff left to watch! That is, if you like that stuff.. i personally enjoy it almost as much as the episodes.
