What the hell!?
Feb. 10th, 2008 05:04 pmDon't click the link if you don't want to know. Sorry if the pre-cut version pissed anyone off!
What the hell are the Stargate Atlantis people smoking? You have GOT to be kidding me:
Actor Robert Picardo will join the cast as Richard Woolsey assumes command of the Atlantis expedition. Says the press release: "The team, led by Lt. Colonel Sheppard (Joe Flanigan), Dr. Rodney McKay (David Hewlett), Teyla (Rachel Luttrell), Ronon (Jason Momoa) and Dr. Jennifer Keller (Jewel Staite), must adjust to his unique leadership style."
From GateWorld.
Weh??? His "unique leadership style" means that foxmonkey has left the building for season five.
SG-1 and Atlantis storylines that dealt with red tape and bureaucratic issues have NEVER ranked highly with me, and now it looks like that's what we're going to get on a weekly basis. OH MY GOD, STARGATE IS ABOUT TO BE DED. I could kick somebody.
The only bright spot I can see here is that Woolsey will finally get a taste of what it feels like to be on the other side of the IOA microscope. Other than that, I don't see a lot of good here. What the hell do I care about bureaucrats and all that idiocy? Like there isn't enough of it in the real world? When I watch a show about outer space, I want to see new races and space exploration and Atlantis FINALLY finding enough blasted ZPMs so I never again have to hear them whining about having to find a new one.
I am not a happy fangirl. ;-p

Date: 2008-02-10 11:05 pm (UTC)I'm trying to think of ways that this won't completely suck, but so far, I haven't come up with anything. ;-)
It smacks of lazy writing. They either can't or won't come up with new space-related ideas, so they're recycling the most tedious Earth-based portions of the franchise. Aiiii, I think I'm even more depressed. ;-p

Date: 2008-02-11 01:54 am (UTC)Look at the last two episodes, it's classic Stargate money-saving episodes. Split up the cast, and do an earth-based episode and another one in a single set/location. While I've enjoyed both a bit, it's just the SG team saving money so they can do a big Wraith ship story to end the season. lol
