JC/Nelly - Driving in England
Feb. 3rd, 2006 09:00 pmWIP Amnesty Day! Uh...was yesterday? I didn't know, or I'd have pushed this puppy out of the doggy door then!
I wrote this ages ago, as you can tell. This is when Justin and Nelly were all giddy over each other and seemed like they were fast becoming best!boyfriendz. ;-) The funny thing is that while Justin was Nelly's public boy, Nelly seemed to be all about JC. A little bit from the What's Going On DVD is referenced below (I love that DVD).
More JC/Nelly love...Nelly and JC at the 2002 CFTC basketball game, captured for the masses by
liz_w's wonderful eye. They were so cute! Nelly looked smitten, and JC seemed sweetly oblivious. God, that man is such a cutie. :-)
I always meant to do more with it; there's actually a bit more at the beginning and another scene after this ending, but I decided a while ago that if I ever posted it, it would pretty much be what I'm presenting here. Really rough, nowhere near final editing stage
Here it is at journalfen ...or read it here. :-)
Driving in England
------------------
They'd been semi-friends since Justin had sung at the pre-Grammy party. It was the first time Nelly had heard him sing live, and he'd looked impressed when Justin left the stage.
"Damn, J," Nelly had said, and had given Justin a full smile. "You got soul and nappy hair, dirty, we might be related," he'd said, and winked, and everyone within earshot had laughed.
With the thoughts he'd been having about Nelly, Justin certainly hoped not.
- - - - - - -
Justin stood in the sound booth, waiting for them to cue the playback. The other guys had split; they'd done their parts and had no inteest in the produciton aspect of things. He and JC coached each other's segments and JC was standing on the other side of the glass giving him their own sign language shorthand they'd developed over the years. The door to the control room opened and Nelly walked in, and gave JC's flat stomach a gentle pat as he stood next to JC and winked through the glass at Justin and mouthed a hello.
The outside mic was off so he couldn't heart them, just a snippet of JC's laughter when the producer said, "Ready, J?" Justin nodded. He sang his lines, concentrating on the lyrics and not on the fact that while he was contributing to making the world a better place, JC and Nelly seemed to be bonding.
- - - - - - - -
Their names began to be linked in the press, and Justin laughed when he saw himself referred to as Nelly's dirty, because Nelly and the rest of the free world had no idea just how dirty Justin was willing to be.
He'd asked Nelly to sing on his solo project, and he'd been flying high when Nelly reciprocated and asked him to guest vocal on his album. They'd had an amazing day in the studio, playing with beats and sounds, coming up with something they both liked.
If there was one thing that Justin had learned over the years, it was that he had to be careful when approaching someone. He thought there was interest there; he knew the difference between someone checking out his shirt and checking out what was under the shirt. There was interest there, definitely, but he still didn't know if Nelly just looked, or if he touched, too.
- - - - - - - -
They were real friends by the time the Celebrity tour rolled around, and phone calls, two-ways and text messages signed "N" became commonplace. The others teased him about it, but he ignored them. He and Britney were growing more and more distant, and he knew it was just a matter of time. She didn't seem to enjoy their time together, and neither did he, but she still dutifully came to a few shows and let the fans see her sitting out front.
Nelly came to a few of the same shows, and Justin kept trying to coax him out onstage. Nelly just laughed and said, "Maybe later, dirty." Unlike Britney, Nelly stood backstage and watched from the wings. He and Britney were southern-fried warm and friendly towards each other, but Nelly knew the score.
- - - - - - - -
They sat in the game room while Diddy worked the crowd; both the X-Box and the Playstation were hooked up. Chris, Britney and JC were playing one of the shoot ‘em-ups that Chris favored, and judging from JC's groans and Chris' cackles, Chris was winning.
"Dirty." Nelly's voice was soft and pitched low for Justin. Justin turned to look. Nelly tipped his head to the trio on the opposite couch. "Yo, man, you hittin' that?" he said, even more softly.
Britney was glowing, every inch the curvaceous, golden dream girl every man wanted. Justin gave him a wry grin. "Man, I may be the world's worst boyfriend, but I'm still a gentleman."
Nelly raised an eyebrow and nodded slowly, as if thinking to himself. He glanced over at the others. "I can respect that, J. You know, it's cool that you trust me with your shit." He held out his fist, and Justin bumped it lightly with his own.
"Besides," Justin went on, "didn't you see the press releases? She's officially a virgin." He smiled again, but Nelly looked blank. Then he raised his eyebrow again and a little smile curved his lip.
"Naw, J," he drawled, and tipped his head again. "You hittin' that." He glanced over again, and Justin followed his eyes. He wasn't looking at Britney. Justin's eyebrows rose, and Nelly laughed. "Yeah, that."
JC. Justin couldn't imagine the look on his face, but it must have been funny because Nelly was still laughing. JC glanced at them and smiled.
"Damn, boy, I guess that's my answer," Nelly said, his laughter calming. "And yo, sorry if I freaked you out. I know you're close with your boys, but you and C seem extra tight. You're not offended or some shit like that, are you?" He looked amused.
"No, it's cool. You just surprised me, that's all." Justin shrugged.
"So, you do that? You and your boys?" Nelly had turned to look at him now, and he didn't sound like he was insinuating anything, or that he would run or kick Justin's ass if he said 'yes.' He just looked curious.
"Man, I don't know what they do; I'm not tellin' anyone's secrets."
Nelly gave him that look again, that odd little smile. "'S cool. I got ya."
"What about your guys?" He ignored the fluttery feeling in his stomach. Nelly hadn't said anything, but suddenly, Justin thought that he knew whether or not Nelly just looked. He'd bet anything that Nelly touched, too.
"I'm not bustin' anybody out," Nelly said. "I can only answer for me."
"And?" Justin prompted. He and Nelly looked at each other, and Justin saw something in Nelly's eyes. Nelly nodded.
"You know how we drive on the right, and in England, they drive on the left?" Nelly asked. Justin nodded. Nelly grinned. "Well, I've been on both sides of the road." Justin felt hot, but he nodded slowly, sagely. "What about you?" Nelly asked.
Justin cocked his head. "Yeah. I've been to England."
Nelly's grin was wide, and they just looked at each other for a moment. "So," Nelly said, settling back into the couch, "you never answered me."
It wasn't like he'd never thought about it. Through all JC's various looks, from Mouseketeer to early NSync, even the horrible Caesar haircut and his jock look...to now, when he freestyled it, and his hair was big, curly and gorgeous...yeah. He'd thought about it a lot. And it wasn't like JC didn't look back, 'cause he knew he did. They'd just...they'd just never gotten beyond looking.
"No," Justin said, slipping a glance at JC. JC was already dressed, mostly, they all were; their costumes were just clothes now, so they didn't have to worry about lounging around in show clothes before the show. Didn't have to worry about sequins or sparkles. JC didn't have his shirt on yet, just his dance skin; the black material hugged his body.
Nelly looked surprised. "No? Damn." He shook his head. "How about him?"
"He's got a passport, yeah." And Justin knew interest when he saw it. "You makin' a move?"
"Naw, dirty, he's your boy and all. You got history. I respect that."
Justin nodded, but it did nothing to quell the sudden nausea. Nelly wanted JC.

And! Your pics! There was one picture I had in mind but didn't see it on your site, one of JC and Nelly standing on the sidelines, laughing. I would have sworn it was one of yours but I didn't see it.
Since it's been a while since I've complimented you, you take the *best* pictures!

Date: 2006-02-04 05:08 am (UTC)ROFL! Well, there *was* a scene where Justin started to wank in the bathroom and JC called in to ask if he was jerking off and thinking about Nelly. :-)
- - - - - - -
When Justin finally called Britney and broke it off for good, his next call was to JC because he always went to JC for serious things.
JC came over right away, bearing a baggie of joints, and a bottle of champagne. "Not because it's a celebration," JC was quick to say when Justin saw the bottle and frowned. "It's just 'cause you like champagne, that's all."
Justin checked the vintage and the make. "Don't tell me you put this bottle away for this occasion."
JC shrugged out of his jacket and and dropped the joints on the coffee table. "Man, you think I'd do that? I brought it over because you're hurting, and that's good break-up champagne. I killed a couple bottles when Bobbie and I split, remember?"
Justin remembered, all right. He remembered it was all fun and games until JC began to vomit up his very expensive beverage. If Justin was going to drink himself into oblivion, he'd rather do it a little more cheaply.
"Sorry, no. We'll drink beer and get plastered, thanks. We'll save this for something good." JC's lips twitched. "Something happy," Justin clarified.
JC avoided Justin's eyes and turned his head. He coughed politely.
"Fucker," Justin said, and grinned.
"Where's Chris?" JC asked, and dropped to the couch.
"In his house, probably," Justin said, "since I haven't called him yet." He headed into the kitchen. "You know how he was when Bobbie left."
JC rolled his eyes. "He practically threw a party."
"Dude, he did throw a party, we just didn't tell you about it." Justin handed him a sweating bottle. "And that's why I haven't called him."
JC nodded. "So, you're single now," he said, and scratched his nails over the label on his bottle. "Got any plans?"
Justin took a sip from his own bottle. "Think I'll enjoy myself for a while."
"There's always Nelly."
Justin choked on his beer and set the bottle down so he could wipe his dripping chin.
JC looked amazed, and absolutely delighted. "I thought that only happened in movies!" He started to laugh.
"Ha, ha, fucker," Justin said. "Glad to know I can count on you for a Heimlich." He kicked JC's leg as he went into the guest bathroom.
"What, you're not interested? You seem to be. Both of you."
"You're on crack," Justin replied. He turned on the tap and rinsed his face. It would have to do, since taking a shower at the moment would be a little weird - he was half hard just talking about Nelly. He gave himself a squeeze, and it felt good, so he squeezed again. "Out in minute," he called, "put a movie in."
"Man, are you in there jackin' off, thinking about Nelly?"

Date: 2006-02-04 07:20 am (UTC)I love that little moment in the video. And the look on JC's face is too cute in the first pic.
"You hittin' that." He glanced over again, and Justin followed his eyes. He wasn't looking at Britney. Justin's eyebrows rose, and Nelly laughed. "Yeah, that."
I like the way the little love triangle (quadrangle?) sets up in Justin's eyes, with each of the points linked and yet not connected.
"Dude, he did throw a party, we just didn't tell you about it."
Heh. I believe that.
