Seeing a new meme going around reminded me that I hadn't posted this one yet, so here it is.
Because
joeysdramaqueen is a moo cow and she tagged me ...
1. List seven habits/quirks/facts about yourself.
2. Tag seven people to do the same.
3. Do not tag the person who tagged you or say that you tag whoever wants to do it.
1) If I'm going to work, I feel naked without lipstick and earrings, especially lipstick.
2) I feel naked without jewelry when I'm out and about, but everything comes off when I get home, including my wedding ring.
3) I have the most elaborate set of food rules ever. I never realized it until my husband complained bitterly about trying to cook for the pickiest person on the planet. But I'm not picky, I just have specific guidelines concerning foodstuffs.
4) Barefoot is best! I never wear shoes in or around the house. My brother, on the other hand, always wears shoes, even in the house, just hanging around (Dad did too, now that I think about it). I cannot wrap my brain around this.
5) I play piano by ear.
6) I could eat Chinese every day.
7) Handbags are my favorite accessory. ::swoon::
Sadly, I'm going to disregard the rules regarding tagging seven people to do this. I think about everyone on my friends list who'd have been tagged *has* been tagged already. So! If you're on my friends list and you see this and no one's tagged you, do the meme and say I compelled you to respond simply by sheer force of my indomitable will.

ROFL! I had this all typed up the same day you tagged me, and then kind of forgot to post it. Tres lame, I know. :-D

Date: 2007-09-15 09:06 pm (UTC)::boggles:: You're the only other person I know who takes off her wedding ring! I felt like a freak the first few times I did it after I was married but honestly, I just don't wear jewelry at home and it felt weirder to leave it on than take it off (though I felt *exceptionally* naked the one or two times I dashed out of the door without it). Yay! Not a freak!
but my earrings (and other rings ;-) stay in all the time.
My mom wore hers 24/7, another concept I can't get my head around. I tried sleeping in earrings once because I wanted to see what it was like. Ha! Never did it again. :-)

Date: 2007-09-15 09:26 pm (UTC)My earrings are captive bead rings (the kind professional piercers use) and I have so many--eleven in all--it's too much bother to take them in and out. I'd never sleep in "normal" earrings either. Ouch!

Date: 2007-09-15 10:45 pm (UTC)2. in recent years, my cell phone has also become a must have - if I'm out without it, I feel so damn cut off (which is stupid, but yeah)
3. I'm obsessive, and something of a completionist - if I like something, I want everything related to it. this partially explains why I've end up with every single title (and occasionally multiple copies of some books) by fave authors, multiple action figures, all sorts of movies with fave actors that normally wouldn't appeal, various popslash swag, etc.
4. my "Tuesday" verbal tick has mutated in the past couple years to "tomorrow" - again, it's not 100% conscious, but I generally don't say it when folks are within earshot. no clue what started it.
5. I'm definitely susceptible to pimping - there are many many fandoms I resist at first, only to wind up madly in love later, because folks are so damn effective at sharing the squee.
6. through the years, all my cars have been named - as have my computers. most other gadget/electronics don't end up with names, however.
7. even though I rarely cook anymore, I really enjoy watching many shows on The Food Network

When I finished Brave New World aaaaaaaaaaages ago, I found myself eyeing copies in thrift stores, fighting the urge to buy. I already had one copy, so why the need for another? Oddly, I can't think of another book I've ever felt compelled to buy or own in multiples.

Since monkey!husband does most/all of the cooking now, it's probably been years since I actually put together a proper meal, and now I rarely get the urge. But I own at least fifty cookbooks (I think this might fall under the "compulsive" thing mentioned above!) and for years clipped recipes out of the newspaper. I watch Top Chef and loved watching the Frugal Gourmet before he got busted for general skeeviness.

What does your tick entail?
I got your quirky right here!
Date: 2007-09-16 12:18 am (UTC)the verbal tick hasn't always been with me, but started a number of years ago. suddenly I *heard* myself randomly saying "Tuesday" aloud at odd moments like getting into the shower or driving; but always when alone.
at some point that began mutating to include "tomorrow", which is now pretty much solely the word I say
not a clue what it means in mental health terms, but so far I'm not too concerned.
Re: I got your quirky right here!
Date: 2007-09-16 01:00 am (UTC)Quirky definitely, but I agree, not as worrisome as finding yourself muttering, "Bullets. Need bullets." ;-)
wrt the multiple copies of books, they're usually paperbacks long out of print that I want to be sure I can always reread when the mood strikes. so, I randomly buy used copies just to be sure I've still got one to read when I'm 97
Again with the compulsive/anal thing, because this makes complete sense to me. It may have been the underlying reason for my *need* to buy additional copies of Brave New World (though I never did). I almost wish now that I'd succumbed to the urge. It would be interesting to see how many copies I'd have ended up with!
Re: I got your quirky right here!
Date: 2007-09-16 04:21 am (UTC)it would have been interesting to see how many copies you ended up with - I know there are several titles for which I own 4-5 copies 'just in case'. of course, it also means that I don't have to be quite as concerned when I loan one out, cause it's not my one copy.
