Martha Jones is made of KICKASS!
Aug. 17th, 2007 10:21 pmI fell in love with Doctor Who via Christopher Eccleston (the Ninth Doctor, my first!), and I was *bitterly* disappointed when he left the show. I wasn't too excited about David Tennant and sad to say, gave most of the following season a pass.
When I read about the newest companion, they had me hooked, the bastards! I checked it out, and fell in madly and deeply in love with the fabulous Ms. Jones. There've been some dodgy bits this season, I mean COME ON, Doctor, Rose is gone, shut the hell up about it already. But squeeing fangirl that I am, I knew that Ten was really in love with Martha and just didn't want to risk losing another grrrrlfriend.
And then. Then! Tonight's ep! Vindication for all of my girlish hopes and dreams for twu Whovian lurve! Dude. After viewing '42', now can anyone, even the most diehard Doctor/Rose shipper, deny that he's mad about Martha? The scene with the pod drifting off? The Doctor screaming "I'll save you!" but you can only see him, not hear him? Three times, he said it! And dead silence because of the vacuum of space, no bleeps, nothing. Just the Doctor and Martha drifting further apart. EEEEE!!!!! I watched that scene three times (God bless DVR). Great scene, powerful stuff!
Much, much love. And that hug! Both of them laughing and smiling and so very obviously in love. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, yes. ::happy place:: I'll probably watch again before I go to bed.
::squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeness!::

Feeeeeeeeenie! (((hugs))) It's good to be back. I've been thinking about LJ more and more lately, and tonight's Who ep pushed me over the edge. ;-)
I was so disappointed when Nine left that I didn't properly give Ten a chance; he just seemed kind of goofy after Nine's delicious darker edge. I've warmed up to Tennant though, and I think he and Freema Agyeman are just too cute together...and I absolutely cannot believe they're giving Martha the toss in favor of that AWFUL, HORRIBLE, *VILE* Donna Noble character (and what a craptastic episode that was!).
I've never found the screaming, irritable fishwife character amusing in the least, so I'm not sure how many episodes I'll be able to take. I may watch just to see if Ten mourns Martha the way he mourns Rose, but other than that, I'll just be counting down to Martha's return mid-season 4.

Date: 2007-08-23 04:46 am (UTC)Oops! I thougt that was pretty widely known! She's coming back mid-season next year. She's also going to be on Torchwood, did you know that? BBC America is going to show TW beginning early September, I believe.
Everyone I know that watches DW loves Donna
I seriously don't get that. I'll give it a chance, but I'm not looking forward to it. I honestly adore Martha and can't wait for her to come back. ::starts countdown clock!::

Date: 2007-08-20 05:13 am (UTC)As for good Doctor Who forums - I tend to talk DW on the "Talk Tennant" forum (http://talktennant.proboards74.com/index.cgi) which small and friendly and boasts a handful of US Tennant fans as well as Europeans... The only other forum I use is the SFX Forum - which is huge and can be quite intimidating at times ! Feel free to pop by the Talk Tennant forum and take a look around there, and think about joining (I'm an Admin there - username Sass)...
