My work bud and I dissect Project Runway via email the next day; this post is a cobbling together of my messages to her.

I’m gonna squee about Michael’s outfit, because…eeeee! Finally some love! I thought the outfit was beautiful. It was definitely a runway-ready outfit and I thought he nailed the challenge perfectly. That outfit would have been perfect for a disco, and a little post-disco butt-kicking a la Foxy Brown. I could easily imagine Pam Grier strutting her stuff in that outfit back in the day. If I were the producers of The L-Word, I’d snap him up to do some costuming for her character, create a little cross-show buzz.

[Here my friend wondered why Michael put a zipper in the shorts.] Zipper = tailored. He’d have been *crucified* for anything less. Elastic? Oh, hellz no! Michael Kors would have screamed like a little girl, clutched at his heart, and fainted dead away. I’d LOVE to see MK topple over on his cushy wallet. I don’t actively hate him, but he annoys me to no end.

I was so, so glad to see Bradley go. How’d he get on the show in the first place? His entire vibe is just wrong. He seems like a sweet enough guy, but he always seemed like some stoner dude they pulled off the street just before filming began. “Hey, do you want to be on TV? We’ll give you twenty bucks…” He never struck me as a designer at all. That shimmery gold blousey thing was his best effort (it really was pretty, and I’m still amazed that he pulled that one out of his ass), but everything else has been pitiful and sad.

JEFFREY SERIOUSLY NEEDS TO SHUT UP. Once again, he’s doing all this trash talk but he’s not showing me anything on the runway.

Robert. Robert, Robert, Robert. I do like that they acknowledged his talent, but it’s time for him to stop playing it safe. He’s capable of so much more. It’s just sad. You know what? He ought to just approach the challenges the same way he’d design for Barbie. I think he’s getting thrown by the fact that he’s designing for a person instead of a doll – which is stupid, because his designs for Barbie are anything but doll-like. This challenge should have been a natural for him! It makes me cry because his Barbie outfits are just beautiful. He can do so much better.

Angela’s dress...my jaw dropped when that baby hit the runway. Absolutely beautiful, and the rosettes on the hem worked *with* the design this time instead of against it. I was hoping she’d learn from past mistakes, and she didn’t let me down. That dress was gorgeous, and Audrey Hepburn herself could have seriously rocked it.

I wanted both Michael and Angela to win. I’m pleased that Michael was recognized. I do wonder though, if Angela’s winning last week’s huge prize had anything to do with them giving the nod to Michael? Which isn’t fair for either of them – if they truly thought her dress was better, she should have won again this time around too, regardless of her previous win.

The result was spectacular; still, she re-worked a fashion staple – the little black dress. I won’t be surprised to see that one show up on Heidi (or some other celeb!) at some point in the future. I think the only other thing that may have pushed the decision in Michael’s favor was the fact that he created a new outfit, whereas Angela re-worked an existing one. That teeny .0000000005th point for “originality” (quotes firmly in place!), may have tipped the scale for him.

Kayne! His was interesting, but I think it was a bit more Mae West than Marilyn Monroe. Still, he thought about the challenge and knocked it out of the park! Laura’s outfit was cool too, very Katherine Hepburn, but not exciting.

At this point I’d like to see Angela, Michael and Kayne in the Fashion Week challenge, with Laura as the sooper-sekrit fourth designer they throw in to keep people guessing.

I'll be *very* surprised if he doesn't make the final three.

He's so much fun to watch, especially when he's with his buddy Laura, who I also love!
