Fic survey, sucky style.
Nov. 29th, 2002 10:37 pmIt's the fic survey! If you're sensible you'll run.
Best story I think I've written: Good Lord, I have no idea. Probably something I haven't written yet. ;-) If I absolutely had to choose...I don't think I could.
Favorite story of mine: Good Lord, I have no idea. If I absolutely had to choose, probably Beauty. Queen., simply because I tried to capture that wrong-side-of-the-velvet-rope feeling that I get when I go to concerts. It's a bone-deep yearning - if only for a little while - for a life I'll never know.
Most Under-rated story of mine: A tie between Beauty. Queen. and Baby Blue.
Beauty. Queen., I think because it was written in second person from a female point of view. I have a feeling that it turned people off big-time, thinking that it was het, and Mary-Sue het at that. But no, it *is* slash. I thought it was pretty cool myself, but I'm sure people scratched their heads and said, "Weh?" Ah, well.
Baby Blue! People tell me that it's cute, but to me it's anything but. It's a story about abandonment and insecurity and self-esteem issues. But it's wrapped up in a four-year-old JC, so there you go. ;-)
Most Over-Rated story of mine: "Over-rated" seems judgmental and ungrateful, somehow, so I'm going to avoid that wording. I'll say instead, Story That Surprised the Hell Out of Me Because of the Unexpected Response and that would be Chasez Lake. I had no idea that a story about Justin buying JC a house (and a wine cellar! and a couch!) would be as popular as it is. It was a very pleasant surprise. :-)

Baby Blue....
Date: 2002-12-01 07:50 pm (UTC)I can definitely see where you're coming from re: the abandonment, insecurity and self-esteem issues, but I think that many of those issues have mainly been hinted at in the story so far, and I think they'll be more fully manifested as the story pays off. I also think that a lot of those issues are still wrapped up in the mystery of twenty-six year old JC and four year old JC. I mean, why did he fall asleep in the jeep at all, let alone wake up as a four year old? I mean I realize that it's canon that JC falls asleep everywhere, but still....
But, haha, only you know where the story is going... I'm just (somewhat inadequately) trying to express that I think that when "Baby Blue" is completed, we'll understand the vision better (so yes, this was a really, long attempt to encourage to write more)...
