Question: Let's say they're *really* gay.
Jun. 10th, 2002 07:53 pmNot as in very gay, but really, for real gay, and not just slashing happily in fic. Here's my question.
Whose parents would most likely freak? Would anyone's parents freak? I can imagine Joey's being the most surprised, considering, but would any of them actually get disowned by their families? But have they all been in and around the business so long that they'd just accept (maybe even believe deep down, in the case of a couple of sparkly boys) that their kid might be gay, and therefore have no problem with it?
I'm asking because there seems to be the fannish perception (in fic, anyway), that JC's parents would be the least accepting. This is due in part, I'm guessing, to the fact that his parents seem to keep the lowest profile of any of the Sync!sires. Hmmm, or would that be Chris' mom? You get my drift, though. But Chris' mom is usually given a wide-open mind by writers. I'm assuming that because of her background, she'd be hard-pressed to throw stones at anyone else's choice of lifestyle.
So, tossing fannon aside: let's assume for the sake of argument that the guys are gay. Whose parents would be the most accepting? Who would run screaming, and keep a game face for the cameras but demand no boyfriend set foot in their house, ever?
Answer any way you choose. I'm curious kids, and yes, it's for fic. I need to get these rusty wheels turning, and this is one time I'd like to see what others think. Hit me up, yo! Answer the question. Please?

Date: 2002-06-10 06:27 pm (UTC)The fanon thing about JC's parents being cold bugs the hell out of me, because in a lot of ways (in the like, two minutes I've seen of them) they remind me of my own parents, who are the most loving parents ever. I think they just like to keep a low profile, and I also think that, like Chris' mom, they're very aware that they have more than one child. I think they work pretty hard at not valuing JC more than they value his siblings, but that doesn't mean they don't love him. Like, Justin is his mom's only child (right?), so she can fawn on him all she wants, and Lance's entire family seems to work for FreeLance, and Steve goes everywhere Joey goes (and I assume Janine could, if she wanted to), so.
Hmm, I'm babbling. Bottom line: I think they all love their kids. They might not all take instantly to the idea of their son macking on another guy, but I think they'd all come around eventually. If I had to pick one to take it hardest, I'd say either Lance's dad or Justin's dad, purely because they're the only ones I know nothing at all about.
