So I'm poking around online, relaxing after a stressful day at work, and the husband is walking around in the background, telling me about his day. I'm reading, he's laughing, and I said, "you should read some of this stuff, it's good!" And he surprised me by saying, "Well, you pick something out, and if it's short, I'll read it." I was amazed. I asked for verification a couple of times, but evidently, after three years of living with a slash-lover, his resistance has been worn down. :-)
Since the only Syncer he knows by sight is JC ('cause I'm always squeeing about my sweetie), I handed him the J-14 Nsync Life Story and told him to pick a pairing. He went into a whole "sheesh!" routine, but I told him that there are several different pairings, and I'd pick one based on his choice. He looked at the cover and said, "This is JC, right?" And I said yes. I thought for a second that he was going to pick Justin (whose name he knows), but he said, "him," and pointed to Chris. I squealed and said, "JC and Chris! That's a good pairing!" He laughed, and went to watch TV until I made my decision.
So now we had the parameters set. First, by the man's choice, it had to be short. Since my husband is a nut, I knew a humorous story would be my best bet for him. So, short and humorous. I clicked on my rec page, brought up my TrickC list, and settled on two choices, Supermodel and Noticed, both by Rhys. Since Supermodel features a couple of blowjobs, and Noticed is relatively sex-free, that's the one I loaded up. He wandered in shortly after I clicked the link, and settled in the chair. I told him right away that I picked a sex-free tale for his first (and probably only!) slash experience. True to his word, and my amazement, he started reading!
He laughed, he chuckled, and he smiled. I stood over his shoulder and read along with him. There was laughter and some slight eye-rolling when he finished, I think half in amusement that he'd pleased me so much, and half in disbelief that he'd actually read a story involving touchy boylove.
I love JC, the rest of the boys, and my real-life sweetie. *MWAH!

Date: 2002-01-17 07:58 pm (UTC)I was so shocked when he said he'd read one! About a year or so ago I was working on a story and he leaned over my shoulder, then closed his eyes and made a YUCK! face and started going
"Ewwwwwww!"
Now he's talking about writing some gory Nsync slash story where he'll probably torture JC like crazy because he's my favorite. My husband's got an off the wall sense of humor, so I can only imagine what he'd write. *g*
Actually, he'll probably write some flowery romance novel type of thing where the guys are weeping every five minutes, and making overwrought declarations of love the rest of the time. He's whacked like that. ;-)
