PSA out of the way...
Woohoo! Got the stripped-down laptop bought MEGA-cheap from my employer, all decked out in shiny new software. I friggin' LOVE having a laptop. Love it. I unplugged from the world yesterday and took my new baby into my bedroom, propped myself up with a ton of pillows and did a little writing. The kitties were lounging with me, and it was definitely cool. After I talk to Dad tonight (nightly at 9:00 p.m.), I'll probably fire my new baby up. Oooh, I love my laptop.
I've been boring for the last couple of days, not posting at all. Nothing to post! Except that I love my laptop. :-) My long weekend/vacation has been pretty nice. It's finally beginning to resemble spring here, just in time for summer! But that's fine with me, as I'm not really crazy about summer. Fall, winter and spring are my favorites. I hate being sweaty + I hate bugs = I'm not crazy about summer.
My mom was a huge booster at my old high school, and they're giving out a scholarship in her name this week. I'll probably be asked to say a few words (oy), but I need to call and make sure. I'm incredibly touched, as Mom did quite a lot for the scholarship committee, and for the school in general. But Eeeee! I don't know if I'll be able to speak without crying my eyes out. Yes, eight months later and I still cry. If I do speak it will definitely be short; I'll put something together tomorrow. I'd really like to just sit back and have other people say nice things about her; I don't know if I'm ready to talk about her to a group.
Dad wanted to know if I wanted to go to the cemetery today, and I immediately said no. He's not ready either, so I was glad I didn't have to suck it up and go because he wanted to. One of these days I'll make it out there, but not now, not yet. She's with me in my heart anyway, not where her body's resting. I miss her so much.
Nearly 9:00, so I've got to pull it together before I call Dad.
