General grumpiness, despite Mr. Chasez crooning to me very sweetly, on repeat, both 'Build My World' and 'Lose Myself'. The Chasez certainly can pen a lovely song. Once again I'm completely boggled that these two songs have been critically blasted.

I found myself wondering today whether critics would've said the same things had either song been recorded by, let's say Usher, simply for the sake of argument. (You get the idea. Someone regarded as hip, cool and not-JC.)

Is it the songs critics have a problem with, or the fact that ballads are seen as part of JC's icky boyband past and are therefore verboten? I want to box them all soundly about the ears and shout, a la Cher in Moonstruck, "Snap out of it!"

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, JC. You make me happy, sweetie, even if critics are stoopid. ::smooch::

On the grumpier side of things, I can't find the picture I want for a story graphic. Blast it! In all fairness though, I'm not exactly sure what I want. Ooooooooooh, and just to prove that my brain thinks it's funny, I do believe I just got an idea. My brain likes to embarrass me in public. ::shakes fist at cranium::

I think it's just that boyband member+ballad=crap to most critics. Because, while I'm not a big fan of most boyband ballads, I think JC's ballads on this album are great, and not "typical" at all. I don't really understand why, if they were able to open their minds for the rest of the disc, they couldn't really hear the ballads.
