Yes! Once again I've explored the stinky netherparts of the JJB to bring you something good. Well, not bad, anyway. Makes me wonder (again!) if we might finally see the single drop on Monday.

There's a JC mention in MetroWeekly, "Washington DC's Gay & Lesbian Magazine." It's a bit long, so I'm just posting the JC-centric part behind the cut. If you want to read the entire thing, follow this link: The Shortlist Prize for Music, JC Chavez, Basement Jaxx, and Cher. Yes, Chavez. ::eye roll::

The Shortlist Prize for Music, JC Chavez, Basement Jaxx, and Cher

WASHINGTON WIZARDS… First Kenna, then the Neptunes, and we’ve only just begun to cite native Washington-area dance-poppers making musical waves. See also JC Chasez, originally from Bowie, Md., but more famous as one-fifth of N’Sync. Hoping to follow in Justin Timberlake’s wake, Chasez’s own debut solo album, Schizophrenic (BMG), will be released in October. It should be as dance-oriented as expected, with production from Rodney Jerkins (Destiny’s Child, Whitney Houston) and dance artist and fellow Washington-native BT (N’Sync’s Pop). Chasez has also added his vocals to a track on Emotional Technology (Nettwerk), the latest album from Brian “BT” Transeau, whom we like to call a FODD, or high-school Friend of Deep Dish’s Ali Shirazinia and Sharam Tayebi. A BT tour is in the works this fall.

BASEMENT BANGING… Forward-thinking U.K. dance duo Basement Jaxx will release its third studio album Kish Kash (Astralwerks) in late October. And they’ve lined up an eclectic roster of guest stars, from the where-has-she-been-all-this-time Siouxsie Sioux (minus, alas, her ‘80s “Peek-a-Boo” backup band The Banshees) to bisexual soul rocker Me’shell Ndegeocello to -- yes, there he is again -- JC Chasez.

There's a link to amazon.com at the bottom of the page, that uses a small graphic of the BMU single as a button. Hilarious that directly underneath the "JC CHASEZ" in big letters on the front of the CD, is a text link that says "JC Chavez".

JC Chavez. Poor baby.

JC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It really does baffle me that people continue to butcher his name. That the media, allegedly with people who check these things, butcher his name. Or spell it correctly in one place and incorrectly in another. Then again, my grandfather still messes up my name. So maybe I'm expecting to much.

It's mind-boggling. You wonder if they even bother to check. They see "Chasez" and just *assume* it's incorrect. And it's amazing how cranked I get about it. ;-)

I sent them a comment, thanking them for the article, and pointing out the two errors. Then commended them (the reporter, anyway) for getting his name right in the body of the article.
