Torchwood: Dead Man Walking (Martha's second episode)

As it aired, I did my usual note-taking thing...

1) Owen's corpse! Hmmm, okay, Jack's got an idea. Some kind of device that shouldn't be used? Eeep! It's a hotbed of Weevils!

2) Another Risen Mitten. Bringing Owen back...why? (And wow, Barrowman's really over the top!). That was weird and cruel. Brought him back so they could say their goodbyes? What the bloody hell?

3) Okay...wait. Owen's already dead, but Jack brings him back so he can help him prepare...to be dead? "I want you to be ready." Weh? SHUT THE HELL UP!!!

4) Aw, Tosh loves Owen and always has. Aw, Gwen calls Rhys to hear his voice. That's nice. :-)

5) More Owen/Martha flirting! SO CUTE!

6) Owen up-chucking and farting...hilarious! Jack playing with Owen's hair and then pushing his head, very cute. I like the little/big brother vibe they're building with those two.

7) So, after fumbling the big "What I meant when I said I loved you..." speech with Owen,Tosh watched (and listened) to him on CCTV to see if he spoke to anyone about it. Love Gwen's comment: "That's a bit like stalking, Tosh." YA THINK!? Seriously, Tosh needs to give it up.

8) Owen's the King O' the Weevils!

9) Emo!Gwen getting all emotional over Owen in the meeting room. SHUT UP! He's going out with dignity, dammit. Trying to, anyway.

10) Martha's been old-ened! The bastards!

11) A kiss for Tosh. Now shut up! I gotta agree with what Scotty said about this episode, Tosh doesn't do the tortured heroine very well.

12) Yay! Martha's un-old! Owen and Martha have great chemistry. The bastards. The more I see them together, working and flirting, the more I don't think I'd mind seeing them hook up. Even in Owen's currently dead state. I love Owen!

Overall, Martha's awesomeness was sadly underused. Other than the usual niggles, not a bad episode! I'd definitely watch it again, mostly for Owen and Martha, and the scene in the jail with Jack, which was incredibly sweet.

Have you seen the clip of Freema and JB that was up on the BBC's TW site? She comes out of her trailer in her old!Martha make up and JB's right in there for a snog and makes a comment about having a thing for grannies ! If you've not seen it, check lifeonmartha as it did get posted...

Honestly, what was the point? With a couple of flicks of the pen (or should I say the eraser), it could have been a regular Torchwood episode, sans guest star. Disappointing after the MASSIVE Martha goodness they spoiled us with the week before. :-(

LOL! I haven't seen it, but it makes me smile to read about it! I hope the Who people plan on keeping her busy when season five rolls around -- I think that you're the only other person I can think of who's actively hoping she'll come back as a companion!

I know !! And of course, it made the haters, who were bitching about how much Martha was in "Reset" the week before, very happy ! Grr !!

Seriously, they've made great strides forward with Gwen, so it makes the steps backward even harder to take!

BAH!!! I thought it was re-airings of Season 1;who knew that they would actually be good about it, not like they are with Robin Hood. grrrrrr

I actually like Gwen;she's not THAT horrid, is she? lol But it does confuse as to WHY would they do that? When it's QUITE clear he's playing nekkid Hide & Seek with Ianto!?
