My thoughts on Friday's SG-1 episode, thoughtfully cut-tagged for the spoiler allergic.

"I've got the gate address." Their reactions, Sam looks proud like, "That's my boy!" The others look properly awed (in my little world, anyway). Nice team interaction. It's always a good day when Daniel runs and even better when he's running *and* having a Eureka! moment. Yay Daniel!

Vala in the meeting room is adorable. Handing Daniel his materials! I've loved Vala from day one. "Well done, Doctor." Again with Daniel-praise! It's nice to see him recognized after years of praise-drought.

General Landry is fabulous. He'll probably never replace General Hammond in my heart, but he's definitely making a place of his own in there. That little smile after Daniel left ("That's why I'm making you responsible for her") was sweet. I like that he obviously cares about the team, even when he's being all gruff.

Ahahahaha, Vala already knows Daniel's password! Again with the Vala cuteness. She's still up to her old trickes, but they've toned her down in a believeable way. Nicely done.

Also, I love the way Mitchell tugs Daniel into the gateroom by the back of his jacket. Again with the cute. Also, they're obviously in lurve, and thank you to the writers for throwing me that bone.

Ahahahaha with Vala and the General talking about the mental test. He's talking but she's convinced she's onto something. "A battle of wits." Oh Vala, how I love you. She's a great character and I'm glad they found a way to keep her around. Claudia Black is wonderful in the role.

"Whoa, I thought *I* liked to sleep in." Aw, Mitchell likes to sleep in, just like Daniel.

In the caves, Mitchell sounds apologetic that they have to leave and haven't found anything. "Sorry, Jackson." ( If you can't tell by now, my squee is very much slash-colored, of the Daniel/Cameron variety.)

Love the scene when Mitchell comes to get Daniel and talks about wrapping it up for the day. Not a particularly slashy scene in and of itself, but it's nice that the two of them had a little bit of screen time together, reinforcing (again, in my little mind) that they're friends - it makes the shipper in me very happy. Great team interaction in this episode.

"He's asleep. What the hell kind of diagnosis is that?"

I thought that Vala's storyline was threaded oddly into the story. Usually the A and B plots are intercut much more smoothly so they work together. Not enough to bother me, but it was definitely noticeable.

Loved, loved, loved Teal'c popping that guy on the side of the head. "I'm awake!" LOL! Classic. I love Christopher Judge. Also, he looked ridiculous gorgeous on the Science of Stargate special that aired before the episode. Teal'c laughs! Jokes! It might be the new hair, but whatever's going on, it's definitely working for me. ::rawr!::

I loved Mitchell griping that though checking out the caves was Daniel's idea, he was the only one of the team who hadn't come along. That was amusing.

Yay, more Daniel praise! "Daniel ws right after all." "Yes, he was." It's like the writers/producers are making up for past slights in one episode. I can't help it, I love Daniel and I love it when his brilliance is acknowledged. I'm biased. Sue me.

Vala lying about the psychoanalyst guy while hooked up to the lie detector. "You're looking dashing." Hahahaha!

Mitchell's been toned down too, thank goodness. He's still funny and tells his down home jokes, but the arrogance ("I'm right and that's all there is to it") has been dialed waaaay down.

They've reached a nice balance with his character, and I sincerely hope it lasts - not to say that I didn't enjoy fan!boi/hero-worshipping Mitchell, because I did. Unfortunately, the writers coupled his rose-colored glasses with an over-eagerness to prove himself, often with questionable results.

Sam. Sam, Sam, Sam. I have Sam issues, but recent episodes have given me hope that the writers are tucking Super!Sam's cape and tights back in the phone booth. I only twitched a couple of times, most notably when she was the one who went into med-speak about the effects of the melatonin overload. The doctor was sitting right there, and *he* should have been the one to deliver the info. I'm rationalizing it by assuming he was so sleep-deprived that he just couldn't speak anymore, and let Sam take the reins. Also, Sam found the bug creature (and what trained doctor couldn't spot *that* as being out of place in the usual tangle of human innards?) and delivered some bug-finding speech. Again, the big discovery more realistically should have gone to the trained medical professional. Also, it would have been nice if it had been more obvious that Sam was just assisting with the autopsy and not in the lead chair, so to speak.

Actually, the above isn't anything new - a couple of times in past seasons Sam's delivered some bit of information that should have been coming out of Janet's mouth, usually when the good doctor was right there in the scene. OY, that drove me crazy! To be fair, it's getting better, and for this ep it's a minor quibble. ::quibble::

Loved when Sam squeezed Daniel's shoulder as she walked by. "We have to rely on each other. Alright?" So sweet, and a nice nod to their sister/brother/Science Twins relationship. These people are friends and care about each other, and it's nice to see that bond reinfoced onscreen.

Ben Browder's accent! I love it! When he talked about how they'd have to "ketch" Joe Bob the lizard and then when he said he tod Teal'c to "go on", it killed me.

Lovely team bit when they were all sitting and talking back on base after being cured. I like that they were getting caught up on what they'd all been through, just kind of touching base with each other. I hope the writers keep this up!

Aw, Vala's a probationary member of Stargate Command. And hahahaha, Cameron's under Daniel's power! Love that little look Daniel gives Mitchell, urgin him to say the rest of his little rehearsed speech. "Welcome aboard." And even though I love her like crazy, I'm glad they didn't automatically make her a member of SG-1, because SG-1 is special dammit, like the Green Berets, the Navy Seals or some of those special operations guys. They're the flagship team. They're the team every other team wants to be.

I watched SGA but for the life of me, I can't remember a thing. It was just kind of 'eh' for me. Ronon's still way too purty, but McKay actually had a non-irritating moment or two. He drives me crazy, but I don't hate him.

Caught the last half of the 4400 just now and OH COME ON, I guess we knew Isabelle was a little wacky but now she's just full-on psycho for reals. Waaaaaah! I cry.

He's been unevenly written and annoying at times, but I love him too! I'm dying for more Daniel/Cameron slash. i thought there'd be tons by now, but I'm still having to actively search out fic. :-(

Yay! But yes, I've seen it, and read just about everything there. :-)

Have you seen this one?

The Daniel/Cameron Archive. I think there's a lot of overlap though, since they seem to be sourcing from the same places.

I really thought we'd be *swimming* in D/C by now, but I guess ten years of Jack O'Neill is a lot to overcome!

I guess ten years of Jack O'Neill is a lot to overcome <-- the truth if I ever heard it! *grin*
