The last couple of SG-1 eps have been much more team-oriented, and this makes me happy! They still need to adjust Mitchell's ritalin levels or something, because he's definitely all over the place. It'll be nice when they finally get a handle on the character and stop writing him as fawning fanboy/ninja/hothead upstart, especially the latter. He's the leader of the flagship off-world team and a Congressional Medal of Honor winner, for cripe's sake, and I wouldn't trust this guy as far as I could throw him. Too bad, because I really like the way the season started. ANYWAY, I really liked last Friday's episode. Really liked it.

First impression - when Sam and Cam went out of phase I thought at first that it was going to be the Sam and Cam show which, boo! is bad because I want team stuff. Yay! I was wrong! I've been feeling the Carter love lately, and I wasn't ready to let that go. I don't mind the Sam/Cam stuff as long as they're not pushing ship - and I don't mind it *if* the other two members of the team aren't blocked so as to be invisible. It's a team show, dammit! It's supposed to be anyway. Back to the episode.

Dr. Lee came in with blue jello for Sam! A little thing, but it's nice to see character continuity. Very cute. I love Dr. Lee. As others have pointed out, he comes off as competent at what he does, even when he makes mistakes, which makes perfect sense because not everyone gets it right the first time (or every time!). You can see the wheels turning in his head, backtracking to what went wrong and then spinning through how to get it right. I love Dr. Lee.

Also...isn't Dr. Lee the guy that went to South America with Daniel, when they ran into trouble with the locals and ended up getting whumped...and then some? I just remembered that bit of backstory, and it adds a layer to Daniel's teasing. They've been through horrific stuff and survived. Yay, shared history! Dr. Lee's a nicely fleshed-out character, and I like that even though he's played for comic effect, he's not really what I'd consider comic relief. And he doesn't come off as a bumbling fool, like that goofy Felger. Would someone like Felger have honestly lasted more than a day at the SGC? I doubt it. I hope they don't find a reason to kill off Bill Lee. Okay, I'm re-watching it as I type and yes, I love the character's reactions. I LOVE DR. LEE.

Yay! Sam wants to pull Daniel's big brain in to help! Let's find Daniel. Cam's read all the mission reports kinda like they were fanfic, which fits with the fanboy aspect of the somewhat split personality they've written for him. They're walking through the hall and ooh, I love the way Daniel walks, something about the way his body moves. Anyway, he just walked through Cam, and don't think the slasher in me doesn't love that.

And again, my slasher heart loves the blocking in the gateroom scene. Cam comes into the frame and stops just behind Daniel's shoulder. They're in lurve! Seriously though, it's nice when your favorite characters aren't wallpapered.

I really liked Sam in this. I liked her frustration with Walter and bearded gate technician guy.

And *again* they're splitting up the team!

If I were a diehard Teal'c fan I don't know if I'd like this or hate it. Teal'c gets to be THE MAN on his own and show off his big honkin' arms, but again, team show here, folks. Also, the Jaffa storylines pretty much put me to sleep, and *bad* Jaffa storylines are torture. The Sodan are the coolest of the cool, and they were taken down by *one* invisible zombie guy? Part of me is thinking, yeah, you could do a lot of damage if you were invisible and invincible, but another part of me is thinking that's pretty cheesy. Still, invincible and invisible would be pretty hard to beat, so I'm not going to stray too far into the realm of 'the writers suck.'

Daniel and Dr. Lee in the elevator. Have I mentioned that I love Daniel? Looooooove Daniel. Yay, Daniel gets to be in charge and tech smart and he's having them sync up the security cameras! I love competent Daniel. Not that he's not, but I love it when competent Daniel gets to shine. This was such a good episode. Oy, back to the Sodan.

Big Teal'c! Two guns! Man, this is booooooooooooooooooooooooooooooring. Time to fastforward. Also, the Sodan deserved better than this. ;-p

Love Mitchell crabbing about missing out on roast beef in the cafeteria. Every now and then Ben Browder's Tennessee accents pops through. Love that.

Ahahaha, Dr. Lee is hypothesizing about miniaturization, and it is funny. He's so serious. Daniel is agog. :-) More Daniel/Bill Lee cuteness when Daniel walks in the lab after the miniaturization comment. They play well off of each other. Dr. Lee is a definite keeper.

Now Mitchell is hanging out in Daniel's office while he does his Daniel research thing. Because they're in lurve, of course. Landry's a bit gruff and I still miss General Hammond like mad, but Landry's growing on me. I love this scene. Mitchell's in respectful fanboy mode here, watching Daniel work and inserting his little comments while Daniel is talking. Michael Shanks and Ben Browder have great chemistry. I love watching them together in a non-slashy context, even.

OMG, with the Dr. Lee love. He's glad that Sam and Mitchell are okay, and good on Daniel for it being the first question he asked. Mitchell was all psyched that they were finally able to make contact! :-) I love this show when they do it right. Squee! Team! Uh oh, Mitchell's about to go off on his own because he's Mitchell and that's what he does. Actually, to be fair, I'd love to have seen Jack doing the same thing for Daniel if the circumstances ad been the same during the Jack/Daniel golden days. Eee, there's that accent.

Daniel and Sam were very cute, very Science Twins in this, which is also very, very good.

Wait a minute...the Sodan guys had phase shifty things, so the zombie wasn't invisible to everyone all the time. Why the hell didn't they just blast away at his head (and arms, legs, etc.) until he was just a pile of twitching meat? People just don't know anything about zombies.

Bwahahaha! Daniel's just been phased! Love the way Sam says, "Daniel!" and smiles when she realizes he can see her, and Daniel's little body movement when he tells Dr. Lee he'd never doubt him again - short-lived, as it turns out Dr. Lee messed up. Squee! I want to squeeze the Science Twins because they're just so cute. I love Stargate. ::fast forward through more Sodan stuff:: AHAHAHAHA, Daniel's reaction when he finds out Mitchell went off-world. Much cuteness with the shoulder shrug-eye squinch in tandem with Sam concerning Daniel being able to do the translation now. Oooh, big honkin' ascended being-killing gun! Interesting. A weapon they can use against the Orii! ::more Sodan stuff::

Dr. Lee isn't having a very good day, is he? The device has had a big-ass power drain, and there are only 15 minutes before critical failure! Holy crap, they'll be out of phase forever, and Mitchell will be stranded off-world! ::oh no!:: Daniel's concerned about Mitchell! Hilariously enough, Sam really doesn't seem that concerned. Concerned, but not distraught, which is kind of what Mitchell deserves after some of his antics. Oooh, damn, Mitchell's back in phase at the worst possible moment, eh? Science Twins with the shoulder punching, "are you solid?" thingie. Daniel gets credit for saving the day! Yay!

Mitchell tried to rescue Teal'c, who ended up rescuing Mitchell. And oddly enough...that's the end. Very weird, abrupt ending, no team reunion back at the SGC so they can be happy everyone is safe. Odd, but not enough to negate all the good stuff I absolutely LOVED about this episode. Let me say it again, I loved this episode. :-)
