Bass in space!

This is pretty cool. I'm happy for Lance, because I've always thought it would be the epitome of cool to see the Earth from space. I haven't always dreamed of being an astronaut, no; I hate to fly, for one thing. But wouldn't it be wonderful to sit in a space capsule and look down on our beautiful blue world, spinning peacefully in its orbit? I'd love to see that.
My favorite scene in Star Wars is the shot where Luke's dreaming of a bigger, more exciting life. He's on Tatooine, watching the double sunset. That just made my heart stutter when I saw that, 'cause it's so gorgeous. Yeah, the planet was a dustbowl because of it, but God, what a spectacular sight that would be.
AND! When we get those freakishly huge moons sometimes, or the sun looks so close you could touch it...it just amazes me. I watched the meteor shower a few weeks back - what was that, like four or five in the morning, or something - and again, the beauty and wonder of where we live just kicked my butt.
So, yeah. I'd love to see it all from a larger perspective, even though I'd probably have a heart attack on the way up. I can so easily imagine at least a small part of what Lance must be feeling, because in his shoes, I'd be joyful and terrified.
What I really love about all this is that at least one of the NSync crew will get the last laugh on George Lucas. I felt for them when they were sniped at so unfairly for their roles as extras in the next Star Wars film. But now at least one of the guys will get something even better. Real stars. :-)
