Working on fic today, the one that's all framed in and is ready for editing, tweaking and revision. It's Harry Potter, my first. I have a couple of other HP ones that are near completion and one of these days I'll post them. I can't even tell you how old these are, but I *can* tell you that book six jossed at least one detail or other in nearly all of them. Bastage book. ;-)

Also working on a JuC, which, holy crap, I need to concentrate on if it's going to be ready for JuC day. And...another holy crap, because I just realized that not only is it Joey's birthday (happy birthday, Gorgeous Lips!), but it's my pop!fandom birthday as well. Jeebus, has it really been five years? My God. Seems like just yesterday I was zipping along the internet reading every article I could get my hands on, saving every picture I could find. JC is my alpha and omega, but I do love the five of them. It's like your hand, baby.

Also working on a Stargate SG-1 thingy. Scotty's laughing (or snorting) because I said at least twice that I probably wouldn't ever write SG-1 fic. Wellllllllllllllll, I'll probably never write Daniel/Jack, which I've read a ton of and love, but there are only about five Daniel/Cameron stories out there and that's just criminal. They've got chemistry! Their love needs to be documented! Seems I'm just the shmoe to do it. Probably won't do any offworld stuff, as I'm not much of a world-builder. Hmmm.

Another series that I'm *sure* I'll never write is Atlantis, and I'm sure about this because I haven't watched the show enough to get a feeling for the characters and how they interact, other than I find myself going ohmygodrononhothothot! when Jason Momoa is onscreen. He's just every variety of yummy there is.

If I *did* write Atlantis fic it would be Ronon/Sheppard, because I'm the only person in the known world, apparently, who 1) doesn't see the Sheppard/McKay hotness and, 2) doesn't see the McKay attraction at all, and I'm not talking about his looks. He rubs me all kinds of the wrong way, and oyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy, I can only watch so much of him in one sitting. It's probably just a coincidence that the only eps I've ever seen were pretty light on the McKay action. ;-p Oddly enough, I read a Daniel/Rodney fic this afternoon that I really liked, Two Galaxies, by [livejournal.com profile] mirabile_dictu.

Speaking of Atlantis and SG-1, all you Atlantis people have my profound condolences for the upcoming season when Col. Samantha Carter and her big brain crash land on your show. Very deep condolences. I'll stop now.

More writing!

Ah okay, yeah I had read that which is why I just assumed she was only popping over there for a few episodes, which really isn't that big a deal. I know an SGA person is coming over to SG1 at some point as well. It's just good cross-promotion, actually.

And really, Sam's barely been on this season, I don't see how she could annoy anyone so far! lol

Yeah, ten episodes, a little under half the season. If it's a character you love, great, if not...oy. Atlantis already has a big brain, and as much as I'm not a Rodney fan, I *really* cringe at the thought of a weekly "whose theory makes the most sense" contest between him and Carter. Maybe the writers can make it work, who knows. Having been burned in the past though, I doubt it. ;-)

It's an accumulation of past seasons of Sam for me, not just this year's eps. There are so many little things that bug me and diminish her character for me. I want to like her because I really love the parts they got right, but I just can't. :-(

I'm not seeing 10 episodes anywhere, I see "majority on SG1" and "a few SGA appearances" so that's why I'm not too worried. lol

If they DID have her over there for half a season or whatever, I agree that having the two characters on the same show on a regular basis has the potential to suck any screentime away from other characters and get stale very quickly. And as much as I prefer SG1 to SGA, I don't want to see the latter suffer that way. A guest spot here and there, like on last night's show, is no big deal, but on a regular basis? I don't think it does either show show any service.

The writers would have to do a masterful job of weaving the characters together to make it work right. Both shows already have large casts, adding more people can only hurt, imo.

And of course, I'm going to blame all of this on Vala. Which really works for me, since she bugs me as much as Rodney bugs you. lol

AT said she'd heard ten and ten, so that's probably where I got it.

Exactly. I feel sorry for the people who like the minor characters, because they're going to lose the most screen time. And if there are two scientists in an episode, it's going to be a technobabble show, and that means less action, and that means less team. I really don't see how the writers are going to incorporate her into the show gracefully.

And of course, I'm going to blame all of this on Vala. Which really works for me, since she bugs me as much as Rodney bugs you. lol

ROFL! We are such opposites! I love Vala, I thought she brought a fresh breath of life to the show - Mitchell does too, but at the sane end of the spectrum. ;-) The Vala episodes were much more team-oriented than we've seen in the second half, and that's sad. YMMV, of course, and probably does. ;-)

See, I think they *could* make it more team-oriented if they wanted to. Granted with AT being on maternity leave the first 5 episodes, they needed a female character to fill the gap, and that was fine, I understood that. But once Sam came back, they had a full team again and they should've focused on that.

In bringing in a new character in Mitchell, however, they do need to give him more backstory, so that tends to pull him away from the team. Teal'c storyline with the Jaffa democracy, while important, also splits him away from the team. It leaves Daniel and Sam sitting at SGC spewing exposition and that's just no fun for anyone. lol

As much as I miss Jack, I'm cool with Mitchell coming in and heading the team. I'm slowly getting more used to Ben Browder, but it's taking a while. I think all of this characterization could've really been done better and more focused on in the first 5-6 episodes so that after that we could focus on the big bad and the team dynamics.

I don't mind Vala in small doses, like how you feel with Rodney. I have heard Shanks say that in order for Vala's inclusion to work, they'll have to tone Vala down and I was really happy to hear that. But I have a problem with Vala, a theif and liar, being included on the flagship team of the SGC, a top-secret Government agency. It doesn't wash with me and it feels like it cheapens it a little bit. I don't know if the writers can make it go down any easier. And also, more Vala and her scene-chewing could very well mean that Teal'c gets shelved yet again, and that's not fun no matter if it's Sam or Vala taking up his on-air time.

But it comes down the them right now, the producers and writers have ALL the pieces, it's up to them to make them work. I suppose we'll see, though. What do I know? lol
