I hope everyone on my friends list had a fabulous New Year's!

Just got home from spending New Year's over Dad's. My brother and his girlfriend dropped by, so things were lively this afternoon. So now I'm home, in my jammies, getting caught up. I've only been gone overnight, but it seems like I've been offline for days. Is that a sign of obsession? Dunno.

Fic surveyage! What better way to ring in the new year, eh? On that note,

Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted?

Holy cow, much, much more. I've written as much in one SDB year as I wrote during the two-three years I was in the Herc fandom. And most of those pieces are round robin sections, so. Guess there's just something about the SDBs that moves me. :-)

What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January 2002?

Baby!Sync (and I really mean baby!sync - JC's four years old in Baby Blue), and an AU (Sun, Earth, Moon).

What's your favorite story of the year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you happiest.

Aiiiii, that's tough. OK, I just looked through the list and I'm still not sure. But maybe because I just posted a new section and it's the freshest in my mind, Age of Love. It started out as an experiment, and I'm really happy with where it's going. The story does everything that I set out to do, and then some. I'm pretty pleased with it. I'm in love with JuC and Trickyfish, and I think this is my love song for those pairings. :-)

On the flip side of that coin, Beauty. Queen. is my other favorite for the year. I wanted to capture the yearning that I feel when I go to a concert, and I think I did that. I hope I did.

Did you take any writing risks this year? (See above for unexpected pairings, etc.) What did you learn from them?

I co-wrote a story with someone, I'd never done that before. I wrote a response story, and that was new, too. I posted something other than a round robin section that hadn't been beta'd, and that was strange. Posted works in progress. Oy.

What have I learned? Writing with someone else is give and take, and you should be specific and never assume that you're being clear. There's no one in my head but me, and if I start talking in the middle of a thought, not everyone's going to know what the hell I'm talking about. ;-)

I shouldn't post works in progress. I hate seeing how many things I've started that need to be updated. Bad Fox! Unless I have several parts finished before I begin posting, I won't do that again. I don't think I will, anyway. Probably not. Maybe.

Even if something's unbeta'd I still read through it a million and a half friggin' times before it's posted, and I like having another pair of eyes taking a look before it goes out. Why? Because I usually miss something, and I *hate* seeing mistakes in things after they're posted. I think I might be anal.

Do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the New Year?

Profic? I wish. There's some stuff I've been thinking about, and I need to either do it or get off the pot.

Fanfic? Holy bejeebers, finish the works in progress before the end of 2003. I have one threesome fic that's very nearly done. I have more fic starts and things in progress than anyone would believe. I need to categorize all that stuff and see what I've got!

I think for a while I'm going to try to be more focused about my writing. I'm going to pick a couple of things to work on, and that's all. I know someone in another fandom who works on one thing at a time. I can't even fathom that kind of writing. My brain's just not wired that way. ;-)
