I pretty much have the same view on this as Jae. I don't answer LJ-feedback at all since, I don't know, I just can't, but that's a personal thing, I'm sure. It's part of the reason why I don't announcement in my LJ anymore. I feel bad that I don't reply like I do in email.
and on the comment thing -- I turned off my email option for, like, months, so if people left stuff, I didn't even know, half the time. and yes. comments can be easily missed.
probably don't take it too personally. and if you were slighted, chin up, yo. You're awesome and stuff, and we all know it. and if that person doesn't, then it's her/his loss :)
