Tell me why the world has nuclear weapons when, evidently, all one needs is .5 seconds of a televised nipple to bring civilization to its knees.

This is one of the most ridiculous things ever, especially considering the content of some videos and songs that currently enjoy heavy airplay on both TV and radio. Honestly, I'm just lost for words here.

From Dirtypop.net:

ADIDAS no longer a single

(5/15/04) An email to DirtyPop.net from producer Alex Greggs

It's official- "Sex" is a bad word!!! After trying to figure out why ADIDAS was one of the most added songs to radio and then all of a sudden dropped, JC found out while doing radio promo that the stations were told not to play it by program directors, in fear of getting a hefty fine from the FCC. MTV has also voiced that they most likely will not play the video, not because of the content of the video (Directed by Joseph Kahn/Todd Kelstein), but the content of the song.

I spoke to JC yesterday and could not understand how Eamon can have a song called "F%#k It, I Don't want you back" or Britney Spears can have a video with a girl committing suicided in a bathtub or Korn can have a song also called ADIDAS with the chorus "All Day I Dream About Sex" and be fine. He has become the target of an election year!!!

We will have to now push "Build My World" as the next single. With the money gone into the ADIDAS video, "Build My World" will have no video!!! So the conclusion is that we need to focus on getting "Build My World" played on radio as much as posable and then hopefully move on to ADIDAS when people are not afraid of hearing the word "SEX". Oh ya... does that mean that the following songs are also going to be pulled off the air???

George Michael - I Want Your Sex
Korn - ADIDAS
Marvin Gay - Sexual Healing
Hot Sex - Tribe Called Quest
Sex Machine - James Brown

The list goes on. I'm not saying these songs are offensive....... I'm just saying no one has a problem with any of these.

Keep spreading the word, Fox. He's being targeted because he spoke out. That has to be it. What an unbelievably frightening situation for an artist to be in.

They've all lost their minds! I feel like driving downtown tomorrow, park my car and blast ADIDAS for an hour.

I don't even know what to say to this. Scotty's right, it's because he spoke out about how stupid it all is. It makes me angry and tired all at the same time.

Just this morning, I was thinking the same thing. Last night, Maroon 5's video This Love played on VH1 and now, don't get me wrong, I LOVE Maroon 5, they're even above Nsync on my list (please don't kill me, lol), but there's a nipple in their video. And isn't a nipple what started all this mess, basically? And this morning, I turned it on TWO different radio stations and heard George Michael's I Want Your Sex.

I'm so tired of this shit happening to JC. I can't even imagine how he feels right now. If it were me, I know someone had better be near at all times to provide me with chocolate and a hug. Xanax would help. I hope he's doing okay. This has got to be a major blow to his self esteem. He's getting no support from the people who are *paid* to support artists.

I'm so disappointed. The words can't describe how disappointed I am. Just yesterday, I saw the video and were, "Squee!". Now, sex is a bad word and people doesn't seem to get a joke anymore.

The only thing that could save the situation now would be a big media hoopla about what happened. Media interest would either force Mtv etc. show the video or the video would get a dvd audience like Madonna's "Justify my love".

so much for music freedom... my freaking word!!! Too bad MTV couldnt play it just ONCE late night like they did for the Madonna video. The rest of the world gets to play it but not the US.

Poor JC man.

Maybe we'll get to really see it on a DVD or something..

awww man....

Here in the Bible Belt, I can't turn on a pop or urban station without hearing Usher's "Yeah" or Outkast's "The Way You Move". Apparently, no station official has ever bothered to listen to the lyrics----both songs are raunchy as hell. My husband and I were just talking last night about how---despite it's title---ADIDAS is actually one of the cleanest songs out there. So what do we do? Do we let the rabid righties take over the world? How do we stop them? Will calling and writing local stations make any difference at all?
