Work! Waaah!
Jan. 4th, 2006 11:10 pmYep, first day back after the glorious loooooooooong vacation. It hurt me physically to cross the threshhold (*it buuuurns, precious!*). Bleh. It wasn't too bad, actually - a ton of stuff I'd been waiting for arrived, so I spent most of my day getting it processed and out of my office and on its merry way (someone else's office! yay!). Thing is, I'm just going to be getting all of it back eventually for further processing and distribution to other areas. Still, the initial butt-kicking prize for desk-cleaning is mine! Unfortunately, I still have to clean up my mailbox and sort through the other pile o' crap that accumulated while I was gone, but the biggest pile has been dealt with. Go me!
Of the not so good, I was told that I'll be filling in on the old Job from the Nether Pits of Hell for a while until certain staffing issues are resolved. Yeah, see how this pleases me? Fortunately, I'll only be taking over one aspect of the job, and it's not *too* bad. Of all the things I could be doing, that's the least heinous. Also, there are deeper issues here involving an arrogant slacker employee having the screws applied where it hurts, so to be truthful, that lessened the blow by about 1/10000th. See, this is me still not being happy. ;-p
OY! I'd planned (thought about, considered) setting up the new 'puter tonight but waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah, the computer room is such a mess that just shifting stuff around would be a major project. See? This is what I get for being a procrastinating biotch. If I'd cleaned this place out ages ago, I'd be zipping along on the new machine already. I am a cow.
I've been itching to write the last few days, but I have absolutely no idea of the direction in which my muse is poking me. Now *she's* a biotch. I think I'm just going to have to put a pen to paper and see what happens.
On that note, I'm off to bed!
