One last review before bed. A good one! Seen by me at the House of Fear and Loathing, posted by Jayne. From alloy.com.

intelligently explores various sides of his musical ambition )

Slept late. 9:20 is *very* late for me. I feel kind of groggy and ick. And now that I've got juice, I can function! Four reviews have popped up, and two interviews, one of which is Newsweek. I'll post the interviews separately because they're both pretty long.

An interview in Newsweek. NEWSWEEK. NEWSWEEK!!! I'm excited about that. :-) Includes a cheesy but very cute picture of JC that I hope turns up in a larger size somewhere. Haven't cruised the friends list yet, so it might be there. :-)

All these are at the JJB and in [livejournal.com profile] fuskeez and [livejournal.com profile] charlidos' journals as well.

Review One:This album is too long by half. )

I think I've seen this next one before, but not sure I saved it. Well, it's here now. ;-)

Review Two: an adventurous auteur )

Review Three: serious musical range...credible detours into funk...moments of surprising bliss )

Barnes&Noble interview. On the longish side, and complimentary to the album. Some of this will sound familiar - it's from the mass discussion with journalists. Lots of it aren't familiar, however.

surprisingly eclectic and freaky Schizophrenic )

And now Newsweek. Newsweek!!! Yay! Good comments about the album. As someone else noted (charlidos? fuskeez???), this is the first time that an Al Green comparison has popped up. Not too shabby. :-)

What's truly unexpected is that Chasez's solo debut is so good )

I can't even explain this thing. I hope to all that's unholy we're able to see this thing stateside soon. Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] charlidos for the heads up on this one. :-)

The screencaps and premise are are in [livejournal.com profile] satsuma77's journal:

The video basically is JC being signed up for advertising the fembots. They 'plug in' on their backs.

JC's bits basically are him in an advert situation, selling the fembots. That's why he has the Y fronts and later on, washing powder. They are basically electronic sex-dolls. hee hee!

He points at their arses a lot.

BJ are security guards at the fembot factory, they watch JC's adverts and decide to break in and play with the fembots. Blowing them up and melting them.

THe pig mask is because fembot owner guy likes to wear a pig mask and gives one to JC.

It looks (and sounds!) completely whacked. I can't wait to see it. :-)

A couple of people asked: "I hate asking this, but did Justin ever get this kind of recognition from Newsweek?"

What I found and responded.

I don't know if Justin was ever in the print edition, but he doesn't seem to have had an online review like JC's.

Because I'm a search geek, I went to MSNBC's Newsweek page and did a search on "Timberlake" and "Justified," since I only wanted album reviews or interviews, and not the history of Nipplegate. The following hits were returned.

Thirteen matches for those search terms.

The oldest one is from last October, which is pretty surprising. He's either never been reviewed, or the searches are limited, though that's not stated anywhere that I can find.

To anyone who missed it, the October 23, 2003 one is interesting. Compares Brit and Justin and where their careers have gone since they've separated.

Edited to add: I wonder if entertainment news is limited? Even using just "Timberlake" as a search yielded results for 2003/2004, nothing earlier. A research on "bin laden", however, went back as far as you'd think. Hmmm.

Ah, throw that theory out the window. A search on "Springsteen" gave me a result from 2001. I'd say that Justified was never reviewed in Newsweek - at least not in the online version!

Holy freakin' cow. A year ago my father had an accident - a minor one, but it still gave me a near nervous breakdown, and that's what I recorded. I think I was typing while we talked BECAUSE I WAS FREAKED OUT!!!

Hmm, looks like it was the bad end to a bad week. Yikes!

a year ago today - freaked out!
