Why do I always want to start these posts with maniacal laughter?

BWAHAHAHA! Had a strong urge to hit the thrift shop today. Around 1:30, I decided to put some clothes on and see what I could find. Hit one of the neighborhood junktique shops, found a couple of pins. Woohoo! I love vintage jewelry. Mosied up the road to the thrift shop.

Prowled around a bit, didn't see anything interesting in the CD section. Back to the books and mags, browsing, browsing...saw a familiar face looking back at me from the children's section. JC. I looked away, then my brain processed it, and I looked back. JC! More specifically, the JC-specific copy of "NSYNC with JC". Aiiiii! Snatched that thing up quicker than you could say "woohoo." Took a quick peek to see if the other guys were represented, but no. I'm absolutely giddy.

Eeee! Just flipped through the pages and found something I must share.

Sports were the perfect outlet for the energetic young JC. He had always been extremely physically agile, and he always enjoyed being around a lot of friends. Football in particular was a great release for JC's restlessness, and playing on a team fulfilled his need for male comaraderie. (Not surprisingly, JC says he enjoys being part of 'N Sync for exactly the same reasons!)

Dude. You can't make this stuff up. ;-) Well, we do, but you know what I mean.

Hmmm, here's another, wildly different version of the creation myth. I've never heard this one before. It starts with JC and Justin in Nashville (that much we've known) then throws a curve:

While JC and Justin were off in Nashville, Joey had become close friends with another Universal Studios performer, Chris Kirkpatrick. [snip] Chris confided to Joey that he wanted to get a singing group together. Joey said he knew two guys who just might be interested. [snip] It was Chris who first spoke to Joey about getting some guys together who could sing and dance. Then Joey called Justin. And it was Justin who brought JC into the mix.

Webba hey?

Thats one of the first books that I got when I started my fandom. There was only "NSYNC with JC", and "NSYNC with Justin" that I know of. I guess even back then they were trying to push those two as the two hotties. *snicker*

THey did have these little pocket sized books back then which each guy got his own. I still have my JC and Chris books.

*sniffle* they were just babies back then....

Yep, after I typed that up, I looked inside the book and only found the one for Justin listed, which surprised me, I thought it would be an entire set, after all, all three Hanson boys got their own books. ;-)

The Hanson brothers all got their own book. Gosh even back in the days of NKOTB and the story novels, all of the guys got a story centered around them. Yes I will admit that I do have all of the story books as well as the comic books.

Interesting that now we're learning little bits like JC being a foot model for a day though. I wonder if those pics will ever see the light of day?

I'd love to see those! I may have tried a lame Google-search to find something, but you can't prove it. *cough*

I bet it was probably local, so the best odds would be some DC-area fan who might remember such an ad. I forget, I think he said it was for a... gym or something?

Which is exactly what I've been hoping, that someone would say, "hey! I've still got that magazine/poster/whatever!" and scan it. I live in hope. ;-)

History has been rewritten so often in regard to the creation myth that I wonder if the guys themselves remember the truth. :D

The day there's a *real* Behind the Music, my butt will be firmly planted on my couch and the VCR will be taping.

Hmm. Interesting. That Joey-thing actually makes a lot more sense than Chris calling Justin. But it seems weird to have changed that part of the story. What would be the point? It's such a mystery. It will take many, many researchers to solve this one.

And of course JC has a need for males. Isn't that what it said? :)

I thought exactly the same thing. Because I've often wondered:

1) since JC and Joey went to Dr. Phillips high school together and

2) Joey hung around the MMC set and met Justin there (and already knew JC) and

3) Chris knew Joey from Universal,

why Joey didn't pop up in the "let's get a band together!" equation a little sooner. The 'running into Joey at Pleasure Island' thing always sounded kind of goofy, and not very flattering to Joey's talents. ;-) "Oh yeah, Joey can sing and dance. Let's ask him!"

Why would they change it? To put the spotlight on the Mousers, maybe, for whatever reason?

Justin was so talented that he popped up in Chris' mind immediately (even though he only knew him from auditions), and JC knocked Justin's socks off, so he called *him* immediately? Even though we now know he probably just walked down the hall, knocked on JC's door and said, "C! Some guy's on the phone!" ;-)

And of course JC has a need for males. Isn't that what it said? :)

Bwahahaha! I love that soooooooooo much.
