Really. I'm shocked.

Tired of Tripod. My original Herc site from years and years ago is there. It's a mess. I've kept it separate from my popslash site mostly because...hmmm. Guilt over space, I guess? Anyway, there are about thirty pages in all that needed to be overhauled because YES! my design ideas sucked stinky, hairy balls. Ouch, with the badness.

After much excruciating torture (site design and redesigning I love, but I hate relinking more than anything in the world) I finally finished each and every page. Then tried to upload to Tripod. Updating Tripod can be exceedingly funky even on good days, and today it's just not having it. ARGH! Plus there are banners and popups and...grrrrr. Just major piss-offage every time I turn around. So I thought, Fine! Keep your crappy old site, I'll load it all to Geocities! Even with the hating to relink and all.

Geocities is faster. The interface is friendlier - why in the world does Tripod limit the working window to like a quarter of the page size? If you're going to use frames, use them wisely, you idiots. Hate Tripod. HATE. Now I'm at the change-links-to-Tripod stage of the deal. Or...do I just want to load it all to the illuminations.nu site??? No popups. No hassle, 'cause it's fast and easy ftp (I love ftp). I'm cleaning out some directories and stuff to make room for the Herc (and Harry Potter, one of these days) fic if I decide to go in that direction.

Relinking. I hate it with a passion. I'll be glad when this is done. ::whimper::

JC!

An update about something other than JC!?

It's okay. It happens to the best of us.

Isn't there a way where you can set it up so you only need to relink one thing and the rest of the pages and links will automatically change? Especially with 30 pages, damn, that's a lot of work to go through when ever you want to change sites.

I thought I could resist the lure of the mundane! Apparently not. I'll have to cue up 'Schizophrenic' and sing ten "Hail JC"s to atone. ;-)

You can do it with cascading style sheets, I believe, but I just use regular old html. If there's a way to do it, I don't know about it. I think I'll just have to do a search and replace on each page (sob!).
