Oy. Chicago's the mecca of the tour for us midwest LJ-ers, it seems. But here's the thing. I need a new roof. Pittsburgh is closer and cheaper. WAAAAAH! For once, though, time off work won't be a problem. Told the boss lady on Monday that I want time off sometime in early May. So yay! That's cool. We even chatted about how nice it is to meet up with friends. ;-) So.

What I need to do is put the costs down side by side and then make a decision. Yes. Here goes.

Chicago:

show date: May 07, 2004
bus, round trip, cost: $78.00
bus, round trip, time: 19h, 50 min. (To Chicago - 11h, 25min. Back home - 8h, 25min)
ticket for show: $32.50
HOB hotel: $160.65 United States Dollars per night Starting Thursday, May 6, 2004 For 1 Night; $135.15 United States Dollars per night Starting Friday, May 7, 2004 For 1 Night
HOB hotel Gov't Rate: $155.00 United States Dollars (Daily per room), Total Rate: 310.00 United States Dollars (what the hell "government rate"?)
Chicago-Mart hotel: $128.00 (Rate Type: 21 DAY ADV PURCHASE)

Pittsburgh:

show date: May 09, 2004
bus, round trip, cost: $48.00
bus, round trip, time: 8h, 55 min. (To Pittsburgh: 4h, 40min. Back home: 4h, 15min)
ticket for show: $30.00 (?)
hotel: need to look into it.

I'd hate not to meet you babe, but Pittsburgh does look more financially sound.

Come to Chicago! I want to meet you!

Of course, with my luck, that'll be the weekend I'm out of town. But if it's not, and the hotel costs are prohibitive, you're very welcome to camp out in my living room. My apartment's about a fifteen minute walk to the HOB, so it works out well. *g*

Do you not fly? I just looked at Travelocity and you can get a flight hotel package in downtown Chicago for $417.00. Looking at what you had above it sounds like a better deal than the bus and hotel. That's actualy a good deal since Pittsburg is alot more. You may also try a last minute deal and it might be less.

I'm considering Pittsburgh. I have to look at flights/train schedules. But I'm definitely considering it.

I really wanted to go to Chicago, because that's where all the cool kids are going, but then he announced Pittsburgh, and hello, I live here, so that settled that. The problem with Chicago is that whole pesky work/money thing. We need a new roof, too. My daughters are driving over from Columbus, and it only takes Erin two and a half hours for the trip. I know we don't know each other, but if you decide on Pittsburgh, you're welcome to crash at my house.

You know the venue in Pittsburgh is outdoors, right? It's May, it's a weekend, it's Pittsburgh. :cough: rain :cough:

Chicago and Pontiac (which would only be about a 3.5 hour drive for you Fox) for me. Road Trip!!

Decent hotel prices in the area of the Pontiac one too...but make sure that you don't book a hotel in Pontiac, go for Auburn Hills or Troy. They are nicer areas.

This is going to be huge!!
