From the New York Post Online, Page Six. Yes, *again* with the New York Post. The last sentence is completely uncalled for.

CHASEZ APOLOGIZES FOR 'OFFENSIVE' CD TITLE
by Richard Johnson

March 8, 2004 -- THE publisher of Schizophrenia Digest is furious at the cover of JC Chasez's new album, "Schizophrenia." Bill MacPhee, also a victim of the disease, is so upset over the album cover, which features Chasez in a straitjacket with rumpled hair and a dark look on his face, he claims "BMG Zomba and Jive have ignored the U.S. Surgeon General's call on the entertainment industry to help eliminate stigma to address the public health crisis that exists." MacPhee also says the album is "grossly misrepresenting the nature of the disease" and notes, "It is important for us all to understand the real symptoms and real implications of the disease. Ignorance will only stall advances for current and future disease sufferers." Chasez's freshman effort debuted at No. 17 on the Billboard charts this week. Chasez said via a rep: "I apologize to anyone I may have offended with the title and cover of my album. I took artistic license . . . as it was in reference to the wide range of music styles in the album." The singer is also said to be upset that his former *NSYNC bandmate Justin Timberlake has not come out to help him promote the album, but a rep for Jive denied this.

Yes, uncalled for. Why the hell would Justin help promote it? He's not on it, it makes no sense. Stupid Post.

I heard this on the radio this morning, with the exception of the Justin part. I guess I was just happy they pronounced his name right. JC just can't catch a break.

And I agree the part about Justin was so unnecessary.

Oh for cryin out loud... is there any journalist who can report on JC without making some kind of Justin comment? Sheesh people remember who you're writing about not their friends.

And because I've been remiss is saying so earlier - thank you for all the great JC reviews you've been posting.

If he said that too, why isn't it in quotes as well? Morons.

I have mixed emotions about the apology. Honestly, I don't think it warranted one. There's always some group out there that will villify artistic expression--regardless of who or what it is.

This is why the Post is a rag. This annoys the hell out me.

I'm actually...relieved that there was a statement from JC. I don't know. Of course I didn't realize it would become so huge a deal, but I also didn't think JC could think nobody would be bothered by it, because I didn't feel so comfortable with the title from the start and I adore JC and the album, and so him addressing the issue in some way is good.

However, the last line has no place being there. At all. It's like last year when there would be all sorts of articles about Justin, and no matter what the topic, the last line would be "Timberlake is currently dating actress Cameron Diaz."
