Talking to Dad and flexing my fingers periodically in order to keep the blood from freezing in my veins. OY! Felt weird and disconnected today, and my brain just would *not* kick into gear. I'm thinking it's because I got approximately 1.5 hours of sleep last night, thanks to Hubsmonkey and the monkeycats. I hate feeling that way, all fuzzy-brained with eyes that won't focus and a brain that won't process. Aiiii, carumba.

Yay! The jet engine has been silenced - mostly! Got the HumVee back from the computer guys today and the jet engine whine has been taken care of. Still not as quiet as the little stealth bomber laptop (no noise! I love it!), but muuuuuuuuch better. I am apparently about as boring as cheese tonight.

[livejournal.com profile] scot_ty is waiting with bated breath for my first SG-1 story. Hahahahaha! What a funny woman. Although I *did* find a Daniel/Cameron snippet that I wrote, a verrrrrrrrrrry short character sketchy kind of thing that wasn't too embarrassing to read. No idea what I'd do with it, if anything, so it's in limbo at the moment with a lot of other stuff. I've got the faintest itch of a JuC story twitching between my shoulder blades, so we'll see what comes of that. I'm about to bust out with something, I can just feel it.

Seems like there was something else I was going to write but I'm off now to investigate the covers on my bed. This is best accomplished in a prone position with said sheets pulled firmly up to one's chin, possibly beyond. Ah, sweet sleep, she beckons me.

Whee! Posting from my laptop because the Loudest Computer in the World TM has been taken to the computer store to have a quieter fan installed. The difference between this and the regular computer is like an SUV vs. a Mini Cooper. Hmmm. Henceforth, that is what I'll call them. The HumVee and the Mini.

So...this is the first time I've had my baby hooked up to the internet. Hubsmonkey is all freaked - "Don't get any viruses on that thing!" The old desktop (about five-six years old) that the HumVee replaced was slowing down considerably, mostly because of adware and GOD knows what else. I'll be keeping that one to surf dodgy sites, plus, all my graphics suff is loaded up on that one, too. The HumVee has spyware software and Norton anti-virus, so I should be okay. Once they have the fan fixed, I'll be good to go.

It's really weird going from the old clunker (in keeping with the car theme I'll call it the Studebaker), which made a weird grinding sound while running - even when new it did this - to the HumVee with its loud jet engine whine, to this one, the Mini, which makes no noise at all. I'm so loving this. It's like a stealth computer, or something.

Well, I don't have anything else. Except...yay! This baby came with iTunes loaded and the HumVee didn't, so now I buy stuff from the Apple store. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Hmmm. Perhaps I shall peruse.

OMG! I'm at the iTunes store! I may weep.

So, the new computer has been set up and Earthlink software has been successfully uploaded. I am now, pretty obviously I suppose, cruising via the new machine. It's fab and all - wireless keyboard and wireless mouse - but HOLY MARY MOTHER OF GOD, the drive sounds like a jet engine. WTF!? Hubsmonkey gave me the computer guy's business card, so I'll call him tomorrow to see what the hell is going on. Honestly, there isn't a single appliance in the house, including the vacuum cleaner, that can top the decibel levels of this thing. Also, the Enter/Return key is tiny, tiny, tiny, only a fraction of what I'm used to, no idea why. Otherwise, the touch on the keyboard is fantastic, and I pretty much love it so far. If we can get the noise level down, I'll be a happy girl. Also, the LCD flat panel monitor is teh love. ::squee::

Because I stayed up far too long getting this baby set up, I'm going to go to bed now. Past midnight! I wanted to hit my desk tomorrow morning at six! Sadly, I don't think that's going to happen. Clothes all over the bed that I need to hang up...I cry for them, because they will not find themselves on hangers tonight, poor things.

JC!
