OMG, Torchwood has completely jumped the shark. TOTALLY. I shall cut for spoileryness.

First of all...weh?

You know, it's a shame they didn't tie Owen's psychotic need to open the rift with his new Weevilishness -- that I could have swallowed. Or if he'd developed an undying loyalty to the team that drove him to save his teammembers from certain doom, destruction and rationing in WWII-era Cardiff. But come on, I'm supposed to swallow Owen the Uber-creep's sudden swing to a stalkerish kind of love for 1940's pilot girl? Uh, no. Sorry.

YAY! Ianto shot Owen! Boo, he didn't hit anything vital that would mean instant death, paralysis or a coma! The next time Jack talks to the Doctor and the Doctor's dismissive of the Torchwood team, Jack might want to take a step back and ask why.

YAY! Tosh being all competent and stuff! Boo, really crappily handled coincidences that Gwen would look in the most unlikely places EVAR to find the clues she left! Those plotholes were big enough for King Kong to slip through. Jeebus. Also, I've come to the conclusion that it's not the Tosh character that I can't swallow, it's the actress. She has two expressions: 1) Eyes open as wide as they can possibly go, and 2) Eyes not quite so open. Acting range of a teaspoon, folks.

YAY! Gwen didn't annoy me at all! There is no Boo here, believe it or not. This is the one episode where Gwen didn't royally piss me off. So again I say, YAY! Well, she did say that one little thing about not leaving Jack (what about Tosh?), but I'll overlook that in my sheer exuberance at being able to say GWEN DIDN'T BUG ME TONIGHT! Yay!

Last but certainly not least...No matter how much of the hot it was, I'm pretty sure that two military officers dancing, let alone kissing in public would not have ended well in the 1940s. Hey! Maybe we'll find out later that the square-jawed original Jack Harkness wasn't killed by the enemy, but was really gunned down by his own men??? (My money would be on the guy whose girlfriend tried to crucify Tosh.) Now there's a twist I wouldn't see coming!

Last one of the season next week! I'm excited to catch the fallout from this week's episode...

*snort* Just watching it now since I just got home from shopping with [livejournal.com profile] diggybear. Owen went to the Dark Side so soon? Couldn't they at least drag it out a bit more?

Ok, when did the Doctor and Jack meet up!? I missed it!!! :(

Not to be the stupid one but Cardiff had its own blitz? I never knew that.

I probably could have bought it if he hadn't been so freakin' manic about it. But honestly, it was ridiculously over the top. Again, if they tie it into his new Weevilishness next week, I'll be pleased because YAY! Owen's a bad guy now so it makes sense!

Ok, when did the Doctor and Jack meet up!? I missed it!!! :(

The Doctor's never been on Torchwood, but Jack's been on Doctor Who. Doc was pretty dismissive of the team, he called them Jack's "little band of alien catchers." I think Torchwood's been mentioned two or three times now, and never in a good light. Since Torchwood's so much darker than Who, and Who is thought of as a kid's show in the UK, I'd be really surprised if the Doctor did a cameo...which is too bad.

Dude, me neither! I'm resisting the urge to ask my boyfriend Google for more information. ;-)

And because I'm obligated...YAYNESS! IT'S ALMOST MARTHA TIME ON TORCHWOOD!!!

DUDE! If you missed the Jack Harkness crossover episodes, he's in the last two or three of Who's season two, which just showed tonight. See if you can catch it in reruns! And if you miss it this week, check it out next Saturday.

yeah, I'm pretty convinced that 'original' Capt. Jack was gaybashed on his way home from the dance, and didn't die in combat as originally described

but weren't the longing glances across the room fabulous! this ep was totally full of hoyay, at full volume

Gwen didn't bug you because Eve was mostly filming "Random Shoes" (i.e., yet another installment of "This Week with Gwen Cooper") while everyone else was filming this episode. So she doesn't get a pass from me. And while I agree with your critique of this episode, I have to say that what bugs me the most is the idea (expressed by many a fan girl) that Jack and Jack were actually *falling in love* during this episode. Maybe I'm just too cynical, but all I saw was mutual attraction, guilt on TW!Jack's part for having taken Real!Jack's identity and knowing he'd encountered him on the night before his death, and all those confused feelings you'd expect from a guy like Real!Jack who hadn't had a chance to get his gay on what with his duty and the 1940's social mores and all that jazz. Seriously, I become borderline enraged when people refer to Real!Jack as TW!Jack's one true love. Ugh.

Eeek! Dude, I'm so sorry! I messed up; he's in the last two episodes of Christopher Eccleston's only season (season one of New Who): 'Bad Wolf' and 'The Parting of the Ways.'

I'm tellin' ya! Well, I wouldn't have yelled at Ianto anyway; Owen the stupidhead would have gotten an earful though! There'd better be some timeouts given next week!

Oh believe me, I'm *very* much aware that her reduced screentime played a major factor in my reduced Gwen!hate this week. ;-D Still, since she's capable of annoying the hell out of me about 85 times in a 30-second time period, I gave her the benefit of the doubt on this one. Sadly, I'm sure they'll more than make up for it next week. ::cries::

Weh? I'm with you, I didn't get that swoony One Twu Wuv feeling either. Heavy, heavy on the guilt, as you mentioned, yes, and definitely Gettin' My Gay On, as you also mentioned.

Obviously, the Doctor is Jack's big gay unrequited love, and in my fannish mind, he's about to fall madly in love with Martha, but won't show it because the Doctor would kick his big, immortal ass. Or sonic it, more likely, and not in the fun way.

Also, because I haven't said it in a while...Ianto shot Owen! Yay!!!

Dealing with rift-opening fallout next week, yay! I know it's gonna be a combined Gwenfest/shark-jumping Olympics, I just know it.

How many times will I want to smack Gwen? How many times will I wish Ianto still had the gun? How many times will I look at Tosh and wonder how much wider her eyes can open before they finally pop out of their sockets?

I'm so ready.

I agree! I kept waiting for them to sneak off into a dim, secluded corner so they could make out like crazy. Sadly, I got that *highly* unrealistic dancin' and kissin' scene instead.

Since I find John Barrowman incredibly sexy, I'll cut them some slack for going for a public snog rather than something more historically accurate (see above concerning kisses in the shadows!).

yeah, I'm pretty convinced that 'original' Capt. Jack was gaybashed on his way home from the dance, and didn't die in combat as originally described

And you know...I just realized (because I'm a doofus) that Jack really did change history. He hadn't met the man previously, so yeah, he just screwed holy hell out of the original timeline. It would be interesting to see that addressed at some point, that their kiss - while hot - had truly tragic consequences.

I have a feeling that next week's Post O' Bile may have to come wrapped in flame-retardant material! As the season-ending episode, I'm sure it will more than make up for this week's being Gwen Lite, in which case my head may well and truly explode. Hopefully there'll be more shootings of the Ianto/Owen variety, and Jack will deliver some well-deserved smackdowns. I can hope, anyway. ;-)

No, he wasn't in S2 at all -- he may have been shooting Torchwood S1 then, and couldn't get away...?

He showed up for the last three eps of Who S3: Utopia, The Sound of Drums, and Last of the Time Lords. The first of those, Utopia, is where the Doctor disses Torchwood to Jack's face (unless I'm on crack and remembering incorrectly).

The Doctor's brushes with the various Torchwood incarnations have all been less than happy occasions, so it's no wonder he doesn't hold them in very high regard.

It's like family. Family members have the ability to annoy the crap out of you, but you still love them. My brother's done things that make me want to smack him up 'side the head, but I still love him like crazy. That's the way I feel about Torchwood. There are things about the show that drive me bats, but I still love it.

And that probably doesn't make sense to anyone but me, but there you go. :-)

ROFL! That sounds so awful that it *must* be good.

I'm telling you, they should show Torchwood marathons in drug treatment centers, because this show is better than heroin, cocaine and crack combined.

"Say no to drugs, and yes to Torchwood!"

Hey, fox!

Illuminations.nu seems to be down, and I was wondering if you knew something about that. Wasn't it your site at some point? Or if not, do you know who I could contact about it? Because lots of people are worried and are asking for several stories that are hosted there.

Thanks! :)

(LJ's acting funky, so this response may not post...)

The former owner and I are trying to get this resolved. Hopefully, it won't take too much longer. :-)
