LJ! Writing! Mega-Mary Sue! JC!
Jan. 18th, 2004 12:55 pmArgh, second attempt to update. Haven't been able to access my LJ because of problems with the Santa cluster. Aiii! Anyway.
I had a mini-heart attack this morning when I fired up the lj friends machine and saw that someone I like had unfriended me. But, but, but... She likes me! I like her! What the f*ck? Then I glanced to the left-hand side of the column and saw that I'd been friended by a new user name - she's renamed the journal! I felt like a goober. Rather than keep my dooferishness to myself, I'm sharing it with you guys. 'Cause we're like that. Keeping it cryptic and on the downlow for Google searching reasons. ::nods::
In other news, I'm writing. Editing and re-writing and getting it done. Yes. Have recently discovered the merits of "print preview" as an editing tool. I've also recently started do re-writes and editing directly in the html file for fic, which I love because with a mere "save" and "refresh", I can see the changes in a web-ready format. Because I haven't completely dropped my "page view" mindset of reading, however, the page-at-a-time print preview is extremely helpful.
I convert text files to html and then edit so that the text is red. Then when I edit and I'm pleased with what I've got, I change those portions of the text back to black. Print preview is a nice way to psych myself up when I feel like chucking the machine out the window. "Wow, only two more sentences to edit and that page is complete? Woohoo!" Yes, I psych myself out. I also talk to myself shamelessly while working. I'm a freak!
Also! My early mega-Mary Sue is huge. I hadn't realized how long this thing is! Too bad it isn't any good because it's a novella, though possibly more of a novella-ette. It's positively novella-ette-ine, I swear. Written in longhand, on college-ruled paper, 130 pages, front and back. No paragraph breaks. Huge sweeps of melodramatic text, with sex happening every other paragraph - and that's no exaggeration. There's copious amounts of het, slash and even femslash. Lawd, the shame! It's equal opportunity bad!fic, people. I almost feel the need to create a new pseud for the sole purpose of foisting this thing upon the world - except now everyone will know that it's really me. ;-)
JC snipplets. The first comes by way of the Board of Shame and Sorrow - the JJB! Jayne posted this little item from popjustice.com. Is this a fan-run site? I'm curious. Anyway. On the short side, so I won't LJ cut.
JUSTIN WHO?

If you're one of the millions of pop fans around he globe suffering from 'I'm Loving It'-fuelled Timberlake Fatigue, all is very far from lost because the mighty JC Chasez' debut album 'Schizophrenic' is on the horizon and, from what we've heard, is fucking brilliant.
You'll remember we told you about his ladybummertastic new single 'Some Girls (Dance With Women)' last year - here's JC's album's full tracklisting:
1. Some Girls (Dance With Women)
2. She Got Me
3. 100 Ways
4. Mercy
5. Build My World
6. Something Special
7. If You Were My Girl
8. Shake It (featuring the Basement Jaxx)
9. All Day Long I Dream About Sex
10. One Night Stand
11. Come to Me
12. Dear Goodbye
13. Everything You Want
14. Lose Myself
15. Right Here By Your Side
Hm, that seems like quite a long album. Perhaps it's not the final tracklisting. But who cares - it's got 'All Day Long I Dream About Sex' on it! If you've not heard the song yet, you must find an MP3 immediately. It's like Atomizer's 'Hooked On Radiation' crossed with the entire Dead Or Alive greatest hits crossed, magnificently, with Right Said Fred's 'You're My Mate', some comedy early-90s Belgian techno and - as if things couldn't get any better - some hilarious synthesised handclaps! It also sounds like 'The Bad Touch' by Bloodhound Gang.
Have a listen to the song - and some other crackers - on this page, but put some newspaper down first because you're likely to shit yourself with excitement.
Bwahahaha! There's a link for comments, my favorite of which is this one, from someone named Atom:
Oh My. I only have the live version of this currently, but it's discotastic. A tune tailor made for snorting poppers and twinkling on a dancefloor in W1. "Rollercoaster riding baby I like to watch you do it." Mr Chasez tells us he is a 24 hour love machine. Wonder if he has a little cradle to recharge like an i-pod does? So he can do it all day and all night, yet still keep his power pack primed.
He's mentioned in a Kish Kash review, but only by name, no comments on either the song or JC, but for those interested in buying the album they do say this:
On listening to Kish Kash, it's immediately apparent that the guys have veered well away from the safe route – it doesn't contain a single house track but is a punk-influenced experimental work populated by collaborations with Dizzee Rascal (who features on the breaky, slightly disjointed first single, Lucky Star ), Siouxie Sioux, *NSYNC's JC Chasez, and Meshell Ndegeocello. It's a lot darker than their earlier work and is possibly slightly ahead of its time.
In other news, I'm busting myself out at work as a JC lover. Eeek! My PC faces my office door. Wallpapers I've had, in turn, and office reaction:
1) the Ocean Drive one with the bare feet - no reaction, which is odd because I expected at least a comment or two.
2) the JC-looking-in-a-mirror from the mini-tour - a couple of comments of the "oooh, who's that! He's cute!" variety. Yay!
3)
jchalo's beautiful wallpaper from the recent EW photo - three comments, the last involving a conversation where I divulged my plan to take off work on the day the album drops. Aiiii! I've been outed!
