Life in slow motion, backwards, through a puddle of molasses.
The boss emailed asking about an item that could only be in one of two places. *Two.* One file drawer or the other, in very specifically labeled folders. If it's not in one drawer, standard operating procedure (and common sense!) means that we all check the other drawer before asking around. Doesn't it make sense to check both drawers while you're standing there if those are the only two places the documents are kept?
Bang head on desk several times.
Repeat.
Yesterday a co-worker emailed concerning a softcopy file in our group directory. Again, very specifically labeled directories for these things. "I didn't see blahblahblah.doc" I was agog. If it's supposed to be in the "sodapop" directory, then wouldn't you look there before asking?
