Girlie day! 'Twas fun. :-)

Went to my friend's house last night and four of us enjoyed Girl's Night! Girl's Night was a little delayed in the beginning, but once it got underway, we had a fun time. Watched New Moon on DVD, then watched Youtube clips and laughed ourselves silly. Got home waaaaay late (1:30 a.m.!) and got to bed around 2:00 a.m.

Felt like I had a hangover when I got up. Didn't drink anything so this made no sense until about two seconds ago...she has a theater-type set up (kinda) in the basement where we watched the film. I think the surround sound (LOUD surround sound) gave me a noise hangover. ;-p This happened to me after the Celebrity show too, and it truly feels like a hangover, just without the nausea. Aiiiiii! IT CAN STOP ANY TIME NOW, 'K? K.

Hmmmmmm, I wonder if there's an official name for this? Gotta Google!

Aiiiiiiiiiiii! Slept like, two hours. Doing stuff!

So...I fell asleep in front of the laptop last night. Slept for a couple (three?) hours then woke up. Whee! Like...at 3:00 or something ridiculous. Decided it was a great time to clean up some inconsistencies in my writing journal tags. I deleted a bunch of tags that were redundant or had no use, then created tags for things that needed them. I ended up with nineteen more tags than I started with! But...everything's tagged consistently now. Yay!

Cleaned up a couple of my indexes, but ran into problems when I started getting the Harry Potter index in shape, because, waaaaaaah! Got distracted! I'm now editing a "Five Things" meme dealie to post later today. Hooray! That'll be four down for that prompt, with one to go. IT'S TRUE, I SUCK. Yay me!

Doing girlie stuff with friends later, which should be fun. So that's my day. Writing, fannish stuff now, girlfriend-y stuff later. It's going to be a full day.

Evil monkey!cat is running around like his tail is on fire. This usually means that there are squirrels, birds or other cats taunting him from the safety of the backyard. They're lucky he's not allowed out, cuz he would tear them up. He's badass that way. ;-)

Off for more editing fun!

Too amusing.

Phone call about two seconds ago.

Ring, ring

Fox: Hello?

Caller: Miss Jones?

Fox: Pardon? Miss who?

Caller: Miss Jones. Is Martha Jones there?

Fox: Martha Jones? (HIGHLY amused.) There's no Martha Jones here.

silence

Caller: There's no Martha Jones there?

Fox: No, there's no Martha Jones here.

Caller: Thank you.

ROFL! Martha Jones! I very fleetingly thought I was being pranked, but no one in my offline life knows enough about my online life to do that, and only a couple of people in my online life know my number. So, hahahaha with the Doctor Who-related crazy phone call! Life, she is funny. :-)

Also, it's Friday! HOO-FRIGGIN'-RAY!!!

LiveJournal, Dreamwidth, Journalfen! Oh my!

Re my subject line...how could I resist?

I have four journals. Two LJs, one Dreamwidth, one Journalfen. You can probably see where this is going. In order of appearance...

- I've had my main LJ for nine years now, and even though there have been periods where I've posted sporadically or even longer stretches where I posted not at all, I've had my journal far, far longer than I thought I would when I first got started. This journal is used for the usual journal-y things, including fic posts. I've been a paid user since my second year, I believe -- possibly earlier. I'm currently paid through the end of the year.

- I'm boggled to see that come September, I'll have had my writing journal for seven years. !!! I wish, wish, wish I'd started sooner. This is where I corral all those errant bits of stuff that go into writing. Fic in progress, posted fic, unused snippets, fic ideas, edited out bits, email discussing fic and ideas...links to comms, resource pages, reference sites, etc. Each fandom has its own index, made even more fabulous by tags. Tags are seriously the best thing EVAR for keeping my writing journal organized. I LOVE MY WRITING JOURNAL. 99.9999% private, with two or three public entries. Free account.

- Journalfen! Holy crap, in August I'll have had this journal for three years. I got this one when rumors began circulating about LJ shutting down creative content or some such. Fic was moved offshore to journalfen with a link on LJ. Free account.

- I now find myself with a Dreamwidth journal -- code provided by a friend. :-) There's been unease about LJ ever since they changed hands a few years ago, though to be completely honest, I'd say that I really don't keep up with these things. I'm one of those people who'll roll blithely along until I hear through the LJ grapevine that it's truly time to bug out.

I've seen more and more of my friends posting from Dreamwidth, with at least two planning to pull out of LJ altogether when their paid time expires. I know there's going to be a tipping point, where more friends than not have moved on -- and now that what remains of popslash is unraveling as time passes, any real fandom reason to stay with LJ fades a little more. I haven't explored the fandom opportunities at Dreamwidth yet, but I have a feeling that LJ's kicking butt in that arena at the moment.

Will fandom comms and such move to Dreamwidth eventually? Do I need to be on LJ to better keep in the fandom loop? It's not really like I post that much in comms… At the moment, this is a free account.

edited again to add: And of course fandom isn't the only reason to stay on LJ...friends who aren't necessarily in the same fandoms anymore are still my friends! That makes it harder to leave, of course.

So.

- Obviously, I'm keeping the writing journal, and it'll probably stay on LJ, unless someone out there knows something I don't and suggests that I move it.

- Do I move the main LJ to Dreamwidth and crosspost, then close down foxmonkey@LJ and post on Dreamwidth exclusively when my paid LJ time is up?

- Mirror LJ entries on Dreamwidth and continue to crosspost ad infinitum?

- If Dreamwidth doesn't have the creative content concern that LJ did (does), should I use that for offshore fic posting and close journalfen???

I think I need to consolidate, but I'm not sure what or where. Oy! My brain hurts.

edited to add: It would probably make sense to post this at Dreamwidth as well... Done!

FIC: The One with Gorgeous Ed. Popslash, JuC

JuC Day Weekend 2010, day the last, part two!

JuC Day means new JuC fic!

Actually, this is new only in the sense that no one has ever read it. I wrote this ages and ages ago. Like most of my unfinished fic, it was meant to be longer, but it can stand on its own. I'm pleased to offer it as it is since I know the story I'd intended will never be finished. :-) Cleaned up a bit, but unbeta'd. This is the actual working title it's had since I transferred it to my writing journal; after a bit of thought I decided it would stand. :-)

JuC Day Weekend 2010, day the last, part one!

Gakked from [livejournal.com profile] joeysdramaqueen, who saw it at The Board o' Doom, aka the JJB -- No Strings Attached was released ten years ago today. !!! NSYNC holds the one and two spots for most albums sold in a week:

1 NO STRINGS ATTACHED 'NSync 2,415,859
2 CELEBRITY 'NSync 1,879,955
3 THE MARSHALL MATHERS LP Eminem 1,760,049
4 BLACK AND BLUE Backstreet Boys 1,591,191
5 OOPS!...I DID IT AGAIN Britney Spears 1,319,193

How fitting that the last day of JuC Day Week 2010 should coincide with this historic event. Hooray! To celebrate, I've included one of my favorite NSYNC videos behind the jump, one I love most for the choreography. The store bit is very cute, with the boys done up as their marionettes, but I'd love to have gotten a pure performance video as well. The color, cinematography, and art direction! The dancing! The LEAN! A bit o' Googling says that Darrin Henson was responsible for those iconic moves. MUCH, MUCH LOVE. Share my choreography lurve! Cleek it! )

JuC-centric post to come. :-)

JuC Day Weekend 2010, day three!

First debuted in 2003. I hope you all enjoy. :-) Snippets from original LJ entries at that time:

I've been stuffing my eyeballs full of Chasez pics (oh, the hardship) and surfing font sites. I've been working on a project for the next Stop the Presses release, which will veer slightly off the map. [livejournal.com profile] scot_ty's on hiatus for this one, so we shall see what happens! But yes, having a lot of fun putting it together. ;-)

What would happen if JC and Justin came out and announced that they were a couple? Check out
The Illustrated, Annotated JuC for the ScotMonk version of what you might see and hear. I had a good time putting this one together. :-)

And I *did* have a lot of fun putting it together. I just took another look, and I have to admit, I amused myself. :-) Please note all disclaimers! Everything is made up, except JC's interview snippets about Schizophrenic in the "justin on jc" segment.

Enjoy, and happy (continuing) JuC Day Weekend! :-D

It's JuC Day Weekend 2010!

Day Two of JuC Day Weekend! The following clip is from the making of "What's Going On" (9/11). JC's in the booth and Justin's...producing? After JC leaves the sound booth and joins Justin in the control room, cuteness ensues. :-) How lovely is JC, with his curls, slight facial scruff and buff-ass arms? Oh, JC. Lurve, baby, lurve.

Bonus JC footage after the jump: The Chasez shooting his portion of the video, where he's removing the wrappings from his eyes (see icon). Confused? Just watch and enjoy... )

Happy JuC Day...again! Still!

You know what? I decided one year that I wouldn't just have a birthday, I'd have a birthweek, and I celebrated all week long. It was one of my most fun birthdays ever. In that spirit, I have decreed that JuC Day won't last just a day, but the entire weekend here in Fox's LJ o' NSYNC Lurve and Madness. Hooray!

I saw this vid clip AGES ago, back when I first became a fan. I found it on Youtube recently, and it's as cute and funny now as it was then. They were so incredibly dorkalicious. How could you not love them? This happened behind the scenes at some photo shoot, no idea now which one. So. Cute.

Welcome to JuC Day Weekend 2010! :-)

Happy JuC Day!

Happy JuC Day! I hoped to have offerings of a fic-ly nature, alas, my brain is being stubborn. Hopefully, I'll have something ready this weekend. Pictures are making me nostalgic...and sad. I miss my boys! It's not specifically JuC, but it *is* one of the best things they did EVAR, "That's the Way Love Goes." I always wished they'd covered the whole song, but maybe it's just as well, 'cause my ovaries would probably have exploded from the sexiliciousness. I've heard this a million times and it never gets old.

JC was SO freakin' adorable! ::le sigh::

I still love you guys! JuC, you're still my faves. :-)

cat on lap! editing!

editing is *always* fun, and it's made even more so with a kitty on your lap. Seriously, you should try it. The cat's got his little paws draped over my left wrist, and he's purring away. His slightly twitching tail is telling the real story, though. Honestly, the sense of entitlement that cats are born with just cracks me the hell up. ;-) A picture of my fur-clad Satan ball. )

Pop rules, apparently, and JC shoulda been a contender!

Yes, tell me something I don't know, Mr. MTV-reviewer-dude.

Found this a few days ago, putting it here in my journal where I'll have it for always.

Justin Timberlake Contemplates The Meaning Of Celebrity In 'Popology', Posted 3/10/10 2:15 pm ET by Kyle Anderson in Music (at MTV.com)

The JC-specific bits:

JC Chasez's lead take on "The Game Is Over" is pretty remarkable. He is aided by a plethora of "Galaga"-era arcade sound effects, which makes the track sound simultaneously futuristic and old school.

JC Chasez (who really should have become a bigger star) released the profoundly underrated album Schizophrenic in 2004 (it has two of the strangest and best singles of the past decade in "Some Girls (Dance With Women)" and "All Day Long I Dream About Sex").

Entire article behind the cut... )

I have my peeves with the article but the dude did say nice things about JC, so I won't complain. :-)

Brain dump!

I've been a major slug about posting the last couple of weeks. Work's been weird, just, those kind of weeks where on Friday all you want to do is pop your brain out and not think. ;-p Aiiiii! I've been cruising my friend's page and making the odd comment here and there, but overall, not so much with the posting.

Hooray! It's actually going to be spring soon! The transition from winter to spring is less graceful than the one from summer to fall to winter... I know why the cats zoom from room to room looking wild-eyed with their tails twitching, 'cause that's the way I feel, in a FAR less energetic way. There's something in the air, you feel it coming, but it still looks all grey and blah outside and icky. Spring! I'm looking forward to the greening of my world, Mother Nature. I trust you'll be getting on that soon, yes? Yes.

Hooray! I love driving the new vehicle without snow or ice on the ground. Being my first SUV-ish type vehicle, I was a little nervous about it. But all the reports I read online are true, it *does* handle like a car. Fabulous! I love it with the fury of a thousand burning suns. If Hubs crashes this one, I'll have to seriously do something painful to his body.

Also! I've lived through ujournal, deadjournal, greatestjournal and...something else (edited to add: insane journal), but I see more and more people from dreamwidth. I am musing about this.

Went out for happy hour with my friends Friday (mistyped at first as "happier hour" HAHAHAHAHA!), and drank a bit too much. A fuzzy Navel (mmmmmmmmmmm), followed by margaritas a-plenty, followed by Cosmos. Luckily, hubsmonkey is a trouper (WHEN HE'S NOT CRASHING MY VEHICLES) and came to pick me up. I thought about jumping online when I got home but I was surprised to see that it was 11:30 p.m. so sensibility won out and I went to bed instead. I was a good girl and had four aspirin with some water before bed, and woke up hangover free the next morning. Hooray! Oooh, I forgot to add wine to the list of beverages above. If anyone should have been a hurting puppy the next day, it was I. But I didn't suffer at all! I drank some ice water while guzzling alcohol too, so that probably helped. And that, ladies and gentlemen, was the first of my yearly drinking sprees (edited to add: I usually drink about two times a year). I had fun with my friends. :-)

Nothing else interesting happening. I feel fannish today but I don't know yet what I want to do. Hmmmm.

Also, I hate the time change. ;-p I think I shall swap out Robot Snowman with Flowers for a more seasonal icon. If I have one. ::thinks::

Wow, that's the first Oscars that I've watched all the way through and thoroughly enjoyed and wasn't bored at all! I liked the addition of friends and associates giving little tributes about the Best Actress/Actor nominees before the presentations. Verra nice. :-)

Cutting for potential spoileriness for those in other time zones... )

Oooh! Commercial for Castle, which I've never watched. Nathan Fillion. Seriously, how cute is he?

Oscars...oy vey!

Watching the Oscars (pre-show!) for the first time in a hundred years...and I'm reminded why I stopped watching.

It's kind of the way the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade was ruined, for me anyway, with all the performances and dancing and singing and crap. I just want to see a parade! Well, same here. I want to see people walking down the red carpet, dammit, I don't need all this standing around talking in a set up area. And is it me, or do these interviewers not seem like they know what they're doing? Tried to watch the TV Guide show where people actually were walking down the carpet, but it was just too painful to watch. I'm very sad.

Oooh! Jennifer Lopez looks gorgeous in that dress, but I'm not sure about the makeup.

Sarah Jessica Parker...not sure about that Chanel dress, but I LOVE her hair, very 1960s kind of Jean Shrimpton, Barbara Streisand looking, I believe.

Loving Cameron Diaz's hair and makeup, verra nice.

Oh my God, Whoopee Goldberg did a Poise commercial. ::cries::
