Happy JuC Day 2006! FIC: Something Different
First off, Happy JuC Day! Sings: It's the most wonderful time of the year... My apologies to the songwriter. Anyway! JuC Day means JuC fic!
This is new only in the sense that no one has ever read it. It's a longish part of something that was supposed to be much, much, much longer, something I realize now will probably never be finished. It stands on its own though, so here it is. The story takes place on the night of Justin's solo performance at the VMAs.

I liked the parts with the girl, how she eats pop boys for breakfast. You walk this lovely fine line between using a lot of colloqialisms and slang to make it sound current and young, but without drawing attention to yourself in the process--it's just there in an seemingly effortless way, and not like you're trying.

Wow, thank you, what a lovely compliment! That's one of the things I appreciate most when I read, natural-sounding dialogue, so I'm glad it works in my own fic.

I loved that whole backstage thing afterward. I think it was included in Justin's album diary. If I had DVR'd that sucker I'd *still* be trying to figure out exactly what was going on. That was one of the most interesting slices of inter-group dynamics I've ever seen.
For just a few seconds there, they completely forgot the cameras were around. The weirdness on JC's face...man, I wish I had that footage right now. Fascinating stuff.

footageproject.org has the 2002 VMAs were Justin does this protracted dance number on a faux boombox. Is that the performance? Because it doesn't included the Joe/JC bit after.

Yep, that's the one. Justin had an MTV Diary for the album launch, and I'm 99.99% sure the footage was from that. *Really* interesting stuff. Justin looked like he was about to vomit and he turned to JC for a bit o' tough lovin' and Joey jumped right in there with the hammy dancing. OMG, I've never wanted to smack someone up 'side the head more than I wanted to pop Joey at that moment. ;-) Justin grinned and JC just...faded into the curtains. Very, very weird moment.

I remember JC watching that exchange intensely (is that a word? lol) and Joey jumping in. I really wonder what was said when the cameras weren't rolling. I would think that Justin and JC had a conversation about it.
JC though.. defintely a weird vibe. Even after seeing the Diary footage, it still left you wondering what the hell was going on.
