The moron strikes again.
OK, the idiot that I rambled about in yesterday's entry, the one who wrote to me as though I were in kindergarten? He topped himself today.
I've sent numerous email messages to this numb-nuts while working to solve this one particular problem. Today a co-worker - let's call her Janie - suggested a download for the information that we needed. I emailed the doofus, gave Janie credit for her suggestion, then told him everything I'd done and where I'd downloaded the data. What did he do next? His response:
"I've fudgeled the doohickeys and configured the wampus, so the programs should run tonight with no problems. Thanks Janie.
Foxmonkey, you can delete the files now."
I was livid. I mean, I was so angry that I was shaking. I was at the point where I was so furious that I had tears in my eyes - and I don't cry at work. I was that mad. I'd spent TWO DAYS working on that dumb-ass problem, coordinating efforts with several people in a few departments, and OK, saying something nice to Janie about her contribution, sure, I'm all for that. But to completely dismiss everything I'd done? I was fit to be tied.
I ranted for a bit to another co-worker (none of us can stand him because this is another in a string of infuriating incidents involving this guy), and after I'd calmed down, I sent him a nice little email reply. For this demonstration, let's say the bobblehead's name is Johnny. I wrote:
"Jimmy,
Thanks so much for all your help.
Foxmonkey"
Even from my office I could hear my co-workers howling with glee.
Part of my anger stemmed from a bad week in general, and partly because he'd done something very similar in the past. After working with this guy by email to solve a problem, he wrote, "Thanks, Janie." Janie!!! She hadn't even been part of the email exchange, or been named in any way, shape or form! The man's an IDIOT!!! Janie wrote him after that one, gently reminding him that she'd done nothing, that Foxmonkey had taken care of the problem. He's so incredibly dense.
Oy, ok with the calming down.
Deep calming breaths. Thoughts of JC

Exactly. Yes, that's the crux of it. I can't ignore this guy because the next time a problem of this sort pops up, he's the one I'll have to work with. ::sigh::
My boss sympathized (I didn't mention that she thinks he's an ass too :-D ) and said that in the future we could contact someone off a bit to the side of the prob. resolution line of communication. As tempting as that sounds, it's really not an answer. I'm just going to suck it up and deal.
This is the guy who answered one of Janie's email messages and called her Jeanie. God help us all.
The Uncle Louie Solution is sounding better and better. ;-)
