Project Runway!
Because I use dial-up (!), I'm at the mercy of my phone lines which went wacky last week, just in time to prevent me from updating about premieres of my two fave shows, Project Runway and Stargate SG-1!
The Rip Up Your Apartment challenge: I absolutely loved Robert's sweet little dress with the red bows and built in jewelry. Completely adorable. Didn't one of the judges (probably that idiot Nina) make some comment about it being a Barbie dress? Or am I just projecting and imagining she said something? I hate Nina. The first time they showed that dress from the back, I was *sure* he was going to win.
Michael's coffee filter dress, how gorgeous was that? He should have gotten mad props for that dress (not quite a winner, 'cause I thought that would be Robert) but yes, the judges should have fawned over it a bit. Did they? It's been a week so I can't be sure, and I've already erased the episode. If there *was* fawning, there should have been more.
When that stupid comforter shawl guy was part of the "you're in" crowd, I couldn't believe it. I was *sure* it would be in the bottom three. Nina probably did it just because she's evil. Bitch. That designer is kind of forgettable, too. What's his name? Quite a few of the contestants are kind of faceless to me at this point. Eh.
The dress with the red rubber streamers was pretty cool, and I thought that might have been a winner. I was surprised when Keith won, mostly because there really wasn't anything innovative about making a dress out of a few yards of fabric, which is pretty much what designers do on a daily basis, yes? Beautiful dress, though, but I wanted Robert to win. SUCH a cute dress. I hope someone at Mattel is taking notes, because that would make a gorgeous collector piece. Oooh, red, white and silver! Perfect for a Christmas! Anyway, Keith won and he was one of my two favorites so even though Robert was robbed (in my eyes!), I was glad something completely off the wall and stupid didn't win.
Oh yeah, pit bull-neck tattoo boy irks the hell out of me. Take off that stupid hood and lose the sunglasses! I must admit that I was amused when he was in the bottom three after having slagged off on everyone else's creations. Shreds and tatters aren't innovative, dude. Homeless people have been doing it for years.
Miss America challenge: OMG! MALAN! I liked Malan! I was having a good time trying to figure out his accent! Man, I don't even know what to say. I honestly thought he'd be around for a few weeks, so to say I was stunned would be an understatement.
This elimination was completely weird. It reminds me of the "Design for Each Other" challenge from last season, when Nick was eliminated because - among other things - he forgot to add pockets to the pants he created for Daniel V. Even though his pocketless pants, nay the entire suit, was crafted with a hell of a lot more care than that AWFUL FRIGGIN' JUMPSUIT Santino the Ass made for Kara. I mean, the jumpsuit didn't fit, it was poorly designed and the thing was falling apart on the runway. But *Nick* got booted and Santino stayed. Just...makes no sense. Angela did absolutely nothing, but Malan got booted. Then again, with the way Vincent was acting, Angela was lucky she even got to look at the dress - at least according to the things Bravo aired. I was amazed when Vincent said he had to take apart the awful things that Angela had done, because when the hell had she done anything? Other people seem to like Vincent's kooky charm, but I just think he's a nut case.
Keith's dress was my favorite, all soft blushy pink and flowin chiffon-y stuff. Absolutely gorgeous. It was sweet that Kayne won and cried. Awwww, pageant dress boy won the pageant challenge! I thought it was a little over the top and I was surprised she picked it. In the end though, it was completely Miss America of her to have chosen it, so there you go. Keith should have won, though. Pink! Floaty! So beautiful. ::le sigh::
I miss Banana Republic! I hate when Tim says to choose things from the Macy's wall. No! It's not right! Also, I'd like to see another magazine pick up the sponsorship, simply to bring in some new blood judge-wise. I wonder if no one else is interested? Is it beneath say, Vogue, to have the magazine attached to PR? I'm tired of Michael Kors, too.
Also, where's the drama they alluded to last week? Where Tim tells someone that [whatever they did] goes against all the rules of the show? Wasn't that presented in such a way that you expected it this week? Because I did. Man, what a bunch of biotches.
And how cute was it that Kayne picked Robert to work with? Eeeee! They're so cute! I like Keith, even if he is a little on the arrogant side. Robert and Kayne are my faves, followed by Keith and then ultra-glam architect woman. Now *that* woman takes being fabulous to a whole new level.
HAHAHAHAHA, pit bull-neck boy questioned Kayne's choice of colors but HAHAHAHAHA! the sherbet dress won! Shut up, you thick-necked freak. Is his neck that thick, or do the tattoos just make it appear freakishly distorted? Hmmmm.

Things on television don't always look the way they do on the runway. When I get the chance, I'm going to Parsons to check out the actual designs; I'll get a better look at them then.
And last week, they said "This season on Project Runway..." then all those clips, so the drama wasn't all happening this week. That was for the entire season.
Also, loved Laura's outfit last week. I thought she was going to win because that coat was absolutely FABULOUS.

Ah, thanks for the reminder about the voice-over for the clips. I must have heard "Nex week on Project Runway..." in my head and got confused. ;-)
I didn't mind Malan. I liked that he admitted he'd been an ass when he turned them down the last (first?) time he was selected. Others found him creepy and weird, but I didn't!

I must be the only one that thought Kayne's dress was HIDEOUS! I HATED that thing, omg! HATE, HATE, HATE!!! For me, it was Keith and Uli. And can I just say, Keith is HAWTTTT!!!

(Anonymous) 2006-07-21 01:53 am (UTC)(link)He was definitely different, but not in an OH MY GOD, SOMEBODY PLEASE MEDICATE THAT GUY! kind of way, like Vincent. Vincent creeps me out, big time. He kind of reminds me of Lou Reed, but not. People seem to find him kooky and endearing, but he makes me nervous. YIKES.
And can I just say, Keith is HAWTTTT!!!
You know, I honestly and truly love Keith's designs, but the first thing I thought when I saw him was, hubba hubba! Cutie in the room! I think he's my Daniel V. this season, though he lacks the 'adorable' factor.

I'm sorry I really think Angela should have gone. While I thought Malan's dress was not appropriate for Miss USA (color was terrible) it still was creative and could have been lovely for something else.
I hate tattoo neck TOO!!

(Anonymous) 2006-07-21 02:00 am (UTC)(link)Man, I want to be Laura when I grow up! If I'm lucky, I can look truly polished from head to toe maybe once, twice a week. You just know she's one of those women who's absolutely flawless no matter when and/or where you see her.
While I thought Malan's dress was not appropriate for Miss USA (color was terrible) it still was creative and could have been lovely for something else.
It definitely had potential. Too bad they didn't have another day or so to work on it! I loved the color! That rich brown could have worked had the design been stronger.

I know!! And those text message voting things are giving away way too much. They need to stop.

(Anonymous) 2006-07-21 02:01 am (UTC)(link)I agree. It wasn't as bad as last week when they completely gave away the bottom three, but I cringe when I see those ads pop up. I'm all for interactive TV, but jeebus, let me get through the show with a surprise or two intact!
