Yikes! BSB tried to suck me in!
I have never seen the Backstreet Boys perform. Well, I've seen a couple of videos a couple of times, but that hardly qualifies, eh? This morning I saw them in action for the first time (really), on Saturday Night Live. They sang Quit Playing Games, and something else. They wore black leather outfits, very nice, and the second song featured a cute dance segment with folding chairs.
I was amused, very slightly charmed, and in absolutely no danger of being overwhelmed with sudden Backstreet Love. NSync has nothing to fear; I still love them the bestest.
Some bad things (my opinion only, folks):
1) Nick and Brian don't sing as well as the Syncers.
2) As a collective, the BSB don't dance as well as the Syncers.
3) The sound technician for that appearance should have been shot. The music was way too loud, and overshadowed the boys in some spots.
The good stuff:
1) Photographs are very unkind to Brian's bizarre jaw structure. He's not nearly so strange-looking as his pictures would have you (me) think.
2) Kevin's lips seem thin and unattractive in pictures, but YUM! the boy is tasty.
3) The BSB look good in black leather outfits.
4) Nick has pretty hair.
Interesting things a slasher (me!) would make too much of:
1) At one point during whatever song it was, Nick threw his arm around Howie's neck. Very cute, very slash-ay. I think he was overcome with slash-ay Backstreet love, rather than the excitement of being onstage.
2) Same song, about two seconds later, Brian and Nick (who were separated by Howie and AJ standing between them) were leaning forward slightly, singing to each other. Squee! I'm not even a fan and I loved it.
I looked for exhibitions of touchy boylove during the closing shots, but sadly, saw nothing. Another couple of longing looks and hesitant, loving touches might have gotten my interest up, but alas, this did not happen. Ah, well.

KEVIN! Holy friggin' moley. If I liked BSB, he'd definitely be my fave. Wait...he is already.
Man, I loved that little gratuitious arm-around-the-neck thing! If I'd seen Justin do that to JC, I'd still be grinning! And the leaning forward and crooning to your bandmate move...woman, I'd have spontaneously combusted if that had been Joshtin or TrickyKitten!

And yes I have to agree, Kevin is gorgeous. Something about Brian squicks me to no end though. I can't read him slashed and I can't slash him. LOL
