JC Chasez Goes Schizo
'N Sync star offers broad array of music
JC Chasez will be the second 'N Sync star to step out from the superstar boy band with the release of his solo debut Schizophrenic on January 27th.
Chasez took an active role with his album, arranging and conducting strings and creating a diverse musical palette. "I took more of an artistic approach," he told Rolling Stone. "I'm not sure about typical 'N Sync fans -- I hope to take younger fans who grew up with us, and give them more to think about. I'm trying to respect their intelligence."
For the first single, "Some Girls (Dance With Women)," Chasez enlisted director Martin Weisz to shoot video, which should go into rotation early next month. A remix of the song has also been assembled with Dirt McGirt (the former Ol' Dirty @#%$) adding a guest vocal.
Though Justin Timberlake issued his solo album, Justified, within a year of 'N Sync's most recent recording (2001's Celebrity), Chasez has opted for a more measured route. He issued a single, "Blowin' Me Up (With Her Love)," last year, and provided a guest vocal on "The Force of Gravity" from electronic whiz BT's latest album earlier this year.
"All my cooler than cool dance music friends were like, 'What the hell are you doing working with this boy band?'" BT said. "I'd say, 'Listen, man, these guys are the real thing. I've been fortunate enough to be around some very talented people, so I know when people are the genuine article or when they're faking the funk. But JC loves dance music, and he's got an amazing voice." Earlier this year, Chasez likened some of the songs he had recorded to an array of musical predecessors that reflect the album's title: from Jimi Hendrix to the Police to Duran Duran. "Musicians will respect it a lot more than anything I've ever done before," he said. "This album is not about what's going to sell."
Prior to Schizophrenic's release, Chasez will make a November 16th appearance on the thirty-first annual American Music Awards. He will then kick off a short tour on December 3rd in San Diego.
JC Chasez tour dates:
12/3: San Diego, Spreckels
12/4: Anaheim, CA, House of Blues
12/5: Los Angeles, House of Blues
12/19: New York, Irving Plaza
12/20: Boston, Avalon

JC Chasez Hitting Clubs For First Solo Outing
11.13.2003 10:45 AM EST
JC Chasez, who headlined countless arena tours with 'NSYNC, has scheduled something much more modest for his first solo outing.
Beginning December 3 at Spreckels in San Diego, Chasez will play a string of club shows to premiere material from his solo debut, Schizophrenic.
"I'm going to grass-roots this thing," the singer said. "To me, I'm at the beginning again and I don't want to take [everything] for granted and say I'm too big for that. I actually want to earn my way up."
JC's itinerary currently includes five shows, although more may be added.
"There's just something about [club] shows," he said. "I feel like I really have to get in a room like that. My big thing is I just want good vibes. I know I got to do business, but I don't want to be overly corporate. I'm going for something that feels organic and solid and real."
Chasez will take care of a little business as well, participating in some radio station-sponsored holiday shows, including Y100's Jingle Ball in Sunrise, Florida, on December 14; and making a few television appearances, most notably the American Music Awards on Sunday and the Billboard Awards on December 10.
Schizophrenic, which includes production from Basement Jaxx, BT and Rockwilder, among others (see "JC Chasez Learns To 'Shake It' Like A Polaroid Picture On Schizophrenic"), is due January 27. The album's first single and video, "Some Girls (Dance With Women)," will debut later this month (see "JC Chasez Theorizes About Girl-On-Girl Action, Nabs Ol' Dirty For Video"). "The song was written as an observation, in a joking style, but a sexy style, as well," Chasez explained.
Tickets for JC's tour go on sale this weekend.

Ahem. That's fab. I love the 250,000 mg. Quarter kilo of chill, ma'am.

I went surfing for pics and found that one all ready to go. It was like a sign from God, I swear!
"And God said 'Chill'. And it was good."
*cough*
Yes, a quarter kilo! That's enough to chill...a lot. A lot of chilling, yes. ;-)

I'm ready for tons of new pics, too. Hopefully some nekkid ones, but I don't think hell's frozen over just yet. ;-)
