How can a movie this <strike>bloody</strike> awesome not have at least one LJ comm devoted to it!? Come on, a cool movie about NINJAS, for Pete's sake, with the super fabulous Naomie Harris (loved her since 28 Days Later) and the aforementioned super GAWJUS Rain. Honestly people, what do you want!? The lack of a ship comm for these two makes me weep. ::cries::

comments

It's the end theme for Azumanga Daioh, a sweet and completely crack-tastic anime about a group of Japanese high school girlfriends. The theme and closing images reinforce both the sweetness and crack-tasticness of the show. My very favorite guilty pleasure. :-) If this doesn't make you smile, you have no soul.

Raspberry Heaven (Azumanga Daioh end theme) - Oranges and Lemons

comments

Day 12 - A song from a band you hate

After much thought (and internet research), I've come up with a band.

Now, I know that there truly *is* a band out there that I hate, but for the moment these guys will have to do. As looks go, Adam Levine is closer to the hotter end of the scale than not, but ye *Gods* the man's voice drives me around the bend. Since the world has become aware of Maroon 5, I've probably heard two songs of theirs in their entirety -- twice, once each. I have one album of theirs, Songs About Jane, in my iPod; every time one of their songs comes up in shuffle mode, I hit "next" faster than...something fast. So, while I don't really hate these guys, I do find them hard to listen to for any length of time.

Edited to add: I originally considered Blues Traveler because John Popper gets on my nerves and I'm not that impressed with his harmonica skillz. But! Even though I'm not crazy about the band, I *can* listen to them without bursting my ear drums.

She Will Be Loved - Maroon 5

comments

Trouble is, I don't have one favorite band. I haz many! Hmmmmmmm, and hmmmmmmm again. I think I'll step out of the predictability box here and go for something completely unexpected. Nothing from Live, NSYNC, Dave Matthews or A Perfect Circle (my current favorite bands). Three former favorite bands: Elton John, Police and Queen (Queeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeen!). Yes, let's go with Queen.

Brian May, guitarist extraordinaire, and totally my Future Rock Husband when I was younger. ;-) *And!* As if being a recognized virtuoso guitarist isn't enough, he's an astrophysicist. I love smart boys. ::purrrrrr:: And! "On 17 November 2007, May was appointed Chancellor of Liverpool John Moores University, taking over from Cherie Blair, and installed in 2008."

Oh my God, I still love him.

I'm going to give you two Queen songs. The first is The Prophet's Song, which is, I believe, my favorite Queen tune of all time. My favorite part features my favorite member -- imagine that! -- Mr. May. If you're curious, skip ahead to 5:50 and listen through 6:48. His guitar work is kickin' throughout, but I just loooooove that section. Aiiiii, I'm in flames! Good Lord, he's fabulous.

( The Prophet's Song - Queen )

comments

Well, you can't watch it here in the comfort of my DW, you'll have to click over to Youtube to watch it:

Silent Lucidity - Queensryche. Such a pretty song! I love it.

Woohoodles! The one above is the official video, the following one is a fan-made one with lyrics. But the music is fantastic, and that's what counts. Kleek! Listen! Hmmm, actually, this one sounds better than the above. But! The official video gives you all the sleepy-time images and such. Anyway, lovely song.
...but not that Chasez! I GoogleNews the boy every now and then to see if anything new pops up, like, breaking news that he's working on an album or something. No such luck on that front, but I did see this a couple of weeks ago: Frozen yogurt makes a cool comeback. The blurb in question is on the second page.

"I can choose the quantity, choose the mixture," said Heather Chasez of Winter Park, who visits Yogurtland and other shops about once a week. "A lot of times I go, I don't get a large amount. I can get just what I'm hungry for."

It was so random it made me smile. :-) Plus, it's frozen yogurt, which is smile-inducing all on its own. There was a place here in town that specialized in frozen custard, not ice cream, and the stuff was waaaaaay too yummy. My personal favorite was Cake Batter. They've since closed, and it makes me cry to think of it. Mmmmmmm, it was the creamiest stuff you've ever tasted.

R.I.P. frozen custard place! Most of the time I do chair dancing, and if chair dancing counts, Pop would be the song. Seriously though, I sang along with some songs and if I fumbled even one word, I tossed it out of the "maybe" pile of answers. But! I know all the words to this one! It may be cheating a bit, since it's a slightly truncated version of the original, but it still counts, yes? Yes. :-)

NSYNC's tribute to Janet Jackson (MTV Icon special) - That's the Way Love Goes. Two things:

1) JC couldn't be more adorable if he tried (even with that slightly wacky anime hairdo).

2) This was the beginning of Lance's True Period of Hotness, which reached its zenith with the Bee Gees Grammys tribute, and ended with the nose job.
So...I watched the first episode of Law & Order UK on line a little earlier. Yay! :-D I've never watched the American version, though I love Law & Order SVU (mmmmm, Chris Meloni). I'm watching L&OUK for the mind-blowingly gorgeous Freema Agyeman, better known to some as Martha Jones from Doctor Who.

I've seen pictures of the cast online, and being completely shallow, wanted Alesha (her character) to hook up with Jamie Bamber's character, because HUMINA, Jamie Bamber is a babe. Silly me! Only seeing pictures of Ben Daniels I wasn't sure about his sexy-bility, but yes! After watching an episode I can say that yes, the man is pretty friggin' sexy. Also, his voice can melt chocolate. Honestly, his voice alone probably accounts for at least 90% of his sexiness.

Goodness, I have to fan myself.

Yes! So, while Freema and Jamie would be too much pretty together to humanly stand, I don't think I'd grumble too much if her character got together with Ben Daniels' character. And seriously, I really should learn these names.

Freema! She's just way too gorgeous to be believed. She's so tiny! And gorgeous! I would so go gay for this woman. ::weeps with Freema love:: Let's try embedding the video of her tiny gorgeousness...

Freema!

comments

So...apparently I'm feeling all posty but LJ isn't playing ball. Well, BOOYAH! LJ, 'cause I can cross-post from my other account! I am totally and personally kickin' LJ's slow-responding ass with my cross-posting abilities.

Speaking of slow responses (or even blank pages loading) I got the following via the LJ status page from three hours in the future (gasp!):

LiveJournal may be unresponsive or slow to load due to a high volume of traffic we're experiencing. Our Operations staff is monitoring the situation.

9:23 pm GMT (Monday, March 29)

What awesome times we live in! :-D

On a less happy note, web mail is now disabled at work. Seriously, what the hell? I didn't do a lot from my personal accounts, but I'd usually check mail once in the morning, once in the afternoon. What the hell were people doing that they shut down the mail accounts??? It made me sad. :-( In happier news...uh, my work day is done and I'm about to see what we've got for dinner. I may do something completely reckless like order Chinese (yes! my favorite!) since hubs!monkey isn't feeling well, so probably isn't really hungry. CHINESE FOOD FOR ME FOR DINNER TONIGHT. I CAN FEEL IT.

In other news, one of my friends pointed me toward Big Time Rush, about four boys from Minnesota who want to be the next big boyband. Knowing my love of boybands, my friend thought I should catch at least one episode. Hahahahahaha! It's on Nickelodeon On Demand, so I demanded the three episodes that are currently available. It was cute, and I will probably watch it again. I like the boys and the show better than the Jonas Brothers (but Joe Jonas is *awfully* cute).

Hmmmm. I think I'm done now.

comments

Trying out the cross-posting doohickey on Dreamwidth. This calls for a new icon especially for that purpose! It's always a good day for a new icon...

Is LJ being cantankerous for anyone else, or just me??? Bastage.

Also, check out my Dreamwidth emoticon mood theme! annoyed = (>_<) I be seriously loving that. :-D

Also also, I like John Mayer's new tune about bombs and love and heartbreak and warfare and sulfur clouds. It sounds rather unlike him, in an interesting way. Sounds...more commercial? Poppier? Less troubadourish? Whatevs. Anyway, he may have a Confederate flag metaphorically tattooed on his peener, but the boy (douche) can write a tune. Bastage.

comments

LiveJournal, Dreamwidth, Journalfen! Oh my!

Re my subject line...how could I resist?

I have four journals. Two LJs, one Dreamwidth, one Journalfen. You can probably see where this is going. In order of appearance...

- I've had my main LJ for nine years now, and even though there have been periods where I've posted sporadically or even longer stretches where I posted not at all, I've had my journal far, far longer than I thought I would when I first got started. This journal is used for the usual journal-y things, including fic posts. I've been a paid user since my second year, I believe -- possibly earlier. I'm currently paid through the end of the year.

- I'm boggled to see that come September, I'll have had my writing journal for seven years. !!! I wish, wish, wish I'd started sooner. This is where I corral all those errant bits of stuff that go into writing. Fic in progress, posted fic, unused snippets, fic ideas, edited out bits, email discussing fic and ideas...links to comms, resource pages, reference sites, etc. Each fandom has its own index, made even more fabulous by tags. Tags are seriously the best thing EVAR for keeping my writing journal organized. I LOVE MY WRITING JOURNAL. 99.9999% private, with two or three public entries. Free account.

- Journalfen! Holy crap, in August I'll have had this journal for three years. I got this one when rumors began circulating about LJ shutting down creative content or some such. Fic was moved offshore to journalfen with a link on LJ. Free account.

- I now find myself with a Dreamwidth journal -- code provided by a friend. :-) There's been unease about LJ ever since they changed hands a few years ago, though to be completely honest, I'd say that I really don't keep up with these things. I'm one of those people who'll roll blithely along until I hear through the LJ grapevine that it's truly time to bug out.

I've seen more and more of my friends posting from Dreamwidth, with at least two planning to pull out of LJ altogether when their paid time expires. I know there's going to be a tipping point, where more friends than not have moved on -- and now that what remains of popslash is unraveling as time passes, any real fandom reason to stay with LJ fades a little more. I haven't explored the fandom opportunities at Dreamwidth yet, but I have a feeling that LJ's kicking butt in that arena at the moment.

Will fandom comms and such move to Dreamwidth eventually? Do I need to be on LJ to better keep in the fandom loop? It's not really like I post that much in comms… At the moment, this is a free account.

edited again to add: And of course fandom isn't the only reason to stay on LJ...friends who aren't necessarily in the same fandoms anymore are still my friends! That makes it harder to leave, of course.

So.

- Obviously, I'm keeping the writing journal, and it'll probably stay on LJ, unless someone out there knows something I don't and suggests that I move it.

- Do I move the main LJ to Dreamwidth and crosspost, then close down foxmonkey@LJ and post on Dreamwidth exclusively when my paid LJ time is up?

- Mirror LJ entries on Dreamwidth and continue to crosspost ad infinitum?

- If Dreamwidth doesn't have the creative content concern that LJ did (does), should I use that for offshore fic posting and close journalfen???

I think I need to consolidate, but I'm not sure what or where. Oy! My brain hurts.

edited to add: It would probably make sense to post this at Dreamwidth as well... Done!

comments
