Happy New Year! My first post in 2008 will be a look back at my 2007 ficcage. An LJ cut because this sucker is fairly long...

Writing is my mad, unholy passion... )

Nothing says "Happy New Year" like a writing meme. On with the show!

Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted?

A *lot* less. I was actually surprised the first time I realized how little I'd finished in 2003. I've been writing, editing, jotting, etc., but I've done precious little finishing - it's very depressing. I want that to change in 2004.

What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January 2003?

I've finished, but haven't posted, a short Harry Potter story -Ron/Harry. I'm writing a second, Ron/Draco, as the urge hits.

I got caught up in the books and immersed myself in fic. Unfortunately, it seems that 99.99999999% of the fandom is Harry/Draco (which I don't get) or Harry/Snape, which I *really* don't get. What is it with me and my love for unapppreciated pairings???

What's your favorite story of the year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you happiest.

You'd think this would be easy, seeing how I only actually wrote three pieces of fic this year - Kiss, Burn, and Sugar, and I actually started 'Sugar' a couple of years ago. So, between 'Kiss' and 'Burn', I think...I don't know. I love them both for different reasons.

After hearing about the events of this year's CFTC, I couldn't get the image of a (sick) cranky, and slightly bitchy Chasez out of my mind. He had to be a hurtin' pup, poor thing, and just ready for someone to baby him a little. That's how 'Burn' was born.

'Kiss' is hurt/comfort of a different sort. Again, with the year he's had, I didn't think JC would object to a friendly kiss to help him feel just a bit better about things. :-)

Since I've only got two to choose from then, I'm going to be a complete wuss and declare a tie. Edited to add: And I *completely* forgot my Stop the Presses Halloween Scenefest story, Vibrate. I'll let the tie stand, however.

Did you take any writing risks this year? (See above for unexpected pairings, etc.) What did you learn from them?

Unexpected risks. Hmmmm. Not that I can remember, but that's probably because I didn't write as much as I wanted. I *do* have a couple of risks planned for 2004. We'll see what happens!

As for the unexpected pairings from above - I learned exactly what I already knew. Given any fandom I enter, I'm most likely to fall in love with the pairing that's least written.

Do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the New Year?

Holy frijole, yes.

I really need to get it in gear and finish the next section of Chasez Lake. I have a mostly-finished JuCFu (my OT3, baby!) that's achingly close to completion. There's a rentboy!AU. There's a Trickyfish short that's so near to being done that I should be arrested for not having finished it by now. There's a project that [ profile] scot_ty and I are working on. In other words, I want 2004 to be far and away more productive on the writerly side of things than 2003 turned out to be.

I hope everyone on my friends list had a fabulous New Year's!

Just got home from spending New Year's over Dad's. My brother and his girlfriend dropped by, so things were lively this afternoon. So now I'm home, in my jammies, getting caught up. I've only been gone overnight, but it seems like I've been offline for days. Is that a sign of obsession? Dunno.

Fic surveyage! What better way to ring in the new year, eh? On that note, let's have at it. )
