Thank you so much to everyone who offered condolences on losing my kitty. I love my friends list. ::hugs:: I'll thank all of you personally, but I wanted to give a big group hug. ((((((((friends list!)))))) Thank you. It really meant a lot to me.

Things are getting back to normal. It was such a quiet, weird week! *Very* quiet. A couple of times I thought I heard him. Auditory hallucination, I suppose. The two remaining cats were off-balance as well. I can't describe it, but they definitely knew something was up. Now that it's been a week and they've figured that Hobbes isn't coming back, the little power games have begun, complete with scrapping to decide who's the new head cat. ;-)

The week had a great ending, though - I'd been pulled back into my old job parttime because they were caught short-handed when one of the teammembers took another job about a month after my friend quit. OH MY GOD. Yeah, pain in the ass. I've hated every moment of it. I haven't done this stuff for a year! I hated it then, so you can imagine how much I hate it now, when it isn't even my job. I've been coming in a few hours on the weekend in order to keep from falling too far behind in my REAL job. Anyway.

Yay! The two new hires are in place and one of them started yesterday. She's starting out on the stuff I hate so I don't have to do those things anymore! YAY, YAY, YAY!!! I still have one thing I'm responsible for, but it's the one thing I don't mind doing too much, so YAY YAY YAY!!!

I'm watching The Real Housewives of Orange County. Please, somebody help me.

Up until this past Monday, I had three cats. I now have two. My oldest, 20 year old Hobbes, was put to sleep Monday afternoon. He'd been medicated for high blood pressure for about a year. His retinas were blown because of the high blood pressure, so he could see shapes and movement, but probably not a lot of fine detail, according to the vet. His quality of life still seemed pretty good, though. He could jump up on the bed with a little help we arranged for him - from the floor to a small decorative chair to a slightly higher child's chair to a trunk and then the bed. We have an antique library piece situated over a floor register - not the best place for an antique, I know - and that was his private cave, mostly because it was a great place to be when the heat kicked on. ;-) The last week or so though, he'd slowed down noticeably, and the quality of his meowing had changed. It definitely looked like the beginning of the end. More. )
