It's been a while...let's have a cat post!

They're little dears but, oh, the trouble they get into. Cosmo is currently madly running the length of the apartment. Viggo is pretending to be asleep in the cat condo but he's really planning hijinks.

Getting rid of stuff is hard but I have a bag of clothes ready to donate and a pile of ten books to also go. I only need to find more books to cull. The ones I'll never read again nor refer to again. Mind, I'm keeping the ones that mean a lot to me like the British literature books I read in college for one of my favorite classes.

Here are the clothes going bye-bye:

20258415_10155557668430818_6732822890337325398_n.jpg

What I'm not even contemplating are my DVDs, they can wait for another day. Nor my CDs despite the fact that all I have to play them is an external CD drive for my laptop and a small boombox. Do people even say boombox anymore, oy, I've aged myself. I'm going to get rid of the plastic cases of the CDs I'm keeping and putting the CDs and booklets in slim sleeves. Thus creating room and possibly getting rid of my CD bookcases. Possibly. I could use them to display small tchotchkes.

I have a friend coming over tomorrow night so I really need to clean up my place. And one way is making room on the bookshelves for the piles of books on the coffee table. We need the coffee table for food and crafts.

For the time being my back room, the dining room/office, will store some of my things. Hopefully V won't want to go back there but just in case I'll clean the kitchen.

When I'm depressed these things are let go, especially the dishes. That's going to be quite the hurdle. I'll do half today and half tomorrow.

It'll feel better to have the place clean. Next up is the BEDROOM OF DOOM! There are days of laundry in there and I have a stuffed coin purse full of quarters. I can do this! WASH ALL THE CLOTHES! And maybe some of *them* can be donated.

There was a rug, a really pretty one, in the backroom but I'm getting rid of it because the cats kept bunching it up against the dining room table. Instead, at some future point, I'll get one of those oval rag rugs. Something colorful and cheerful.

Oh, and I need to do the bathroom and decide if I'm going to get rid of the rug in there. It's really hard to vacuum.

So, having friends visit is a good impetus to clean! And helps with my depression. I'm reading a book geared to those who are depressed or have physical ailments that make cleaning hard. It says to just tackle one thing at a time. If you're interested it's Unf•ck Your Habitat. So far it's okay. I like that it says just tackling one little thing like a bedside table when depressed is progress. It also emphasizes to not care what others think, you can get things done in your own time owing to whatever obstacle prevents you from doing a mega-cleaning.

PS...saw Despicable Me 3 and thought it was darling. Anything with the Minions in it is good.

Brainstorming For Yuletide

I am compiling a list of things I would want to see nominated (or might nominate on my own) when Yuletide nominations do open in September. These are what I am currently taking into consideration:

-Makt Myrkranna | Powers of Darkness - Valdimar Ásmundsson
-The Haunting (1963)
-The Innocents (1961)
-The Uninvited (1944)
-Dark Shadows (1991)
-Dracula - Bram Stoker
-Dracula (TV 1968)
-Count Dracula (1977)
-Nosferatu (the 1979 remake) -Hammer Horror Films
-Universal Monster Movies
-Crimson Peak (2015)
-Fright Night (1985)
-Ghostbusters (Movies 1984-1989)
-The Last Unicorn (1982)

At the moment, I suspect that I’ll be nominating Makt Myrkranna (the Icelandic version of Stoker's Dracula that I discussed a while back) in that first slot. Either Dracula (TV 1968) or Dracula - Bram Stoker would go in the second slot unless someone else eventually nominated either one of those.

If it were going to be being released sooner than December, I would be able to add Guillermo del Toro’s The Shape of Water to my list of potential things to throw in there.

Oh, and on a note that doesn’t involve Yuletide: I finally watched Jack The Ripper (1988), and I loved it.

Subscription/Access Policy: Feel free to friend me and I'll probably grant access, although most of my posts will be public anyway! I'm looking to make more friends, so I'd be happy to have you, but you don't need to feel pressure to grant me access if that makes you uncomfortable.

Fannish Interests: I've had a lot of the years (shoujo manga, Harry Potter, Dragon Ball, Pokemon, Mass Effect, superhero comics), but lately I'm focusing mainly on Doctor Who, Star Wars, and Star Trek. I love a good space story! I recently decided to do a proper watch through of all of classic Doctor Who, so I'm having a lot of fun with that.

I like to post about: My journal is new, but I plan to post commentary and pictures as I make my way through Classic Who and the Big Finish audios. I'll also post about New Who, Star Wars and Star Trek, my personal life a little, and my cat a lot. I make icons occasionally.

About Me/Other Info: I'm a genderfluid (they/them prounouns), mentally ill nerd who likes being friendly and considerate. I have a lot of passion for my fandoms, although I can also be a little scatterbrained and flighty. I do my best to be consider of other people and to own up to any mistakes I make. I like to have a quiet, good time talking about science-fiction, animals (I love marmots and other related animals like squirrels), makeup, and toy collecting.

I'm looking to decrease my tumblr presence (too stressful for me), and increase my presence on other platforms such as this one.

Thanks for reading!

Rest In Peace, John Heard

John Heard has passed away at the age of 72. May he rest in peace. He was found dead in his hotel room yesterday, two days after having minor back surgery. He might be most well known for the role of Peter McAllister (Kevin’s father) in the first two Home Alone films. I also vaguely remember him from Cat People (1982).

Deborah Watling has passed away, at the age of 69, following a battle with lung cancer. May she rest in peace. She played the role of Victoria Waterfield, companion to the Second Doctor, on Doctor Who. Unfortunately, most of her episodes were destroyed.

The Tomb of the Cybermen and The Enemy of the World managed to survive from her tenure on the series, along with the second episode of the serial The Evil of the Daleks.

Rest In Peace, Trevor Baxter

Trevor Baxter has passed away at the age of 84. May he rest in peace. For Doctor Who fans, he played Professor George Litefoot in the episode The Talons of Weng-Chiang. He reprised the role for Big Finish Productions, in Doctor Who: The Companion Chronicles: The Mahogany Murderers, and a series called Jago & Litefoot.

Having looked through his filmography, I see that he was in two episodes of Mystery And Imagination*--The Body Snatcher and Feet Foremost; I believe those are in the portion that are sadly lost. He was also in Jack The Ripper (1988) in the role of Lanyon--that one also starred Michael Caine, Lysette Anthony (Angelique from Dark Shadows 1991), and Susan George (Lucy in Dracula 1968). I have always meant to watch that one, so I’ll track it down. I think I spotted it at DailyMotion earlier, divided into parts.

*Come to think of it, that's two from Mystery And Imagination that have died in the last two months. Peter Sallis was the other one.

Import In Progress

I am in the process of importing my older fanfic to Ao3. A large portion of it is probably Doctor Who, from the Tenth Doctor days. So if you suddenly notice a new story* from me, it's not new. It's so very, very old and fluff more than anything in most cases. Looking back now, quite a few are not that great, but they're going up for the sake of completion.

*There were two occasions as I started the import where it accidentally made it post to today's date, but it was eventually fixed. I learned that trying to import from Teaspoon does that for whatever reason, while importing from Dreamwidth does not, and gives the original date without me needing to change it.

A night's sleep helps out a lot. The dreams were angsty but I think they resolved a bunch of issues. So, am feeling less losery.

In cheery news my pal in Berlin sent me chocolate and two of them are utterly delicious summer flavors of Ritter Sport: pink grapefruit and blackberry. Yum! There are two other Ritter Sports and they're nut filled and also look delicious. It's fun getting German chocolate from someone who knows me so well. I've already written her thank you card and will send it off later on today.

Today it's more job hunting while also burning the prayer candles hoping I get a kickass job. I know, I'm superstitious...and not very religious. But it worked several times before. Please let it work this time.

In a couple of weeks my mom and I are off to see the White Sox on a giveaway day. Hopefully we can get the retro jerseys! We're going to leave ultra early.

It sucks not having a car because it would make finding a job easier, I'd have more options. And I could visit my parents more easily. But I don't miss the taxes nor the parking tickets.

If I start feeling low today, which is most likely, I better be more proactive and do something like knit or color. Or...relearn some ukulele chords. I've let that go lax for so long that I might as well take the beginner course again. Happily, though, I have all the handouts and a beginner book to go to instead of shelling out quite a few bucks for a class.

My neighbor is moving to the South and gave me a bunch of framed prints and I have no idea where to hang them. I might do as some suggested and hang them close to the floor. I also have three prints that need framing so when I get a job those will go up high on the walls. Two of the prints are illustrations by Chad Sell. They're of contestants from RuPaul's Drag Race and they're gorgeous.

Subscription/Access Policy: Friend away! I'm always looking for new friends to talk to. As for access, I grant almost everyone that subscribes to me. If I ever lock something it'll be something really personal and might be trigger-y. I will always warn if I do post something of that nature. There's no pressure to grant me access back.

Fannish Interests: Gosh, okay, I like a lot of things. But I also need to catch up on a lot of things. That's my problem.

I watch a lot of tv. Right now I'm watching shadowhunters and deciding if I want to catch up on Teen Wolf or not. My love for Scott McCall is enternal though.

I really enjoy pokemon,  digimon,  yugioh,  sailor moon, power rangers, tf&f series, harry potter, kingdom hearts, and classic spn. all of those were my fandoms before I ever knew what fandom meant. i am casually into new doctor who but Ten was my first doctor and my favorite era. I'm always there for the companions the most though and I love bill potts so much. i love sherlock holmes adaptations but i gotta say my favorite is elementary. i'm also into low energy video games so pretty much anything nintendo and the sims. I'm a little obsessed with the sims and the fandom it has on youtube. just a little. Superheroes are cool too! I like the mcu and dcu but i haven't watched all of it yet bc reasons. Omg star wars is a big one lately too. and the new Star Trek and hopefully the new series!! as for cartoons steven universe is like the best thing that ever happened to me probably. aaaand books!! gosh do i hope to actually start to read books. The last full thing I read that wasn't fanfiction was the hunger games.

sp in summary i love anything cheesy, ridiculous, and about friendship :D

I Like To Post About: honestly? cute animals. cats especially. i'll post about all the things i care about and I might  do reaction posts to a show or movie etc. I hope to at least post fic or a rec or just journaling in general! I'm trying to find my place in dreamwidth after being on tumblr for so long now.

About Me/Other Info: I'm an ace nonbinary (she/they pronouns) lesbian. I'm autistic, mentally ill, and have chronic pain & illness. I'm infp, capricorn, and a hufflepuff.

hurt/comfort is my whole life. It's like my one true kink. I love reading it, writing it, having discussions about it, reading meta about, you get it. It's my jam.

I'll mostly comment on stuff for a while probably. I have a strict rule that is if I see an entry/read a fic/etc I comment on it. <3
